2. Welcome to the United States 50 years in the future! Due to the beauty,
athleticism, and intelligence of genetically engineered babies people genuinely
believe that the next step to our evolution as humans is by using this technology
to better our race as a whole. In this society the government calculates your
genetic value and places you with your “mate” to have children with. According
to this government the mate you are paired with is your genetic equal and your
best chance to have the healthiest offspring to contribute to society. Marriage is
only for the genetically paired. Similar races are being closed off in different
sections of the country. Homosexual and interracial marriage is strictly
prohibited. The people considered genetically weak are sent to government
facilities to be experimented on “for the good of our race”. Adults who were
genetically engineered babies and/or the genetically strong in general are offered
the best schooling, given the best jobs/careers, and have a lot of political power.
Sofia is a twenty year old black woman that has grown up in this atmosphere.
She believes that this system is built on inequality is coming to an end.

3. At birth you are tested for your genetic
strengths and weaknesses. Pass the test you
are given back to your parents, paired with
your mate, and given a category that will
define what opportunities you are give, or in
most cases withheld from you.
Fail the test (genetically inferior) and you
are put in an orphanage until you are old
enough to be tested on through lab
experiments against your will.

4. CATEGORY 1- THE MAGNIFICENT

CATEGORY 3- THE STANDARD
CATEGORY 4- THE ORDINARY
CATEGORY 5- THE UNDESIRABLE
In each section of race groups there are five categories a child is labeled when
tested at birth. The first is wealth, power, and fame anything ever desired will
be granted, 10% of the population. Second is still very good, many
opportunities for physical and intellectual improvement through schooling and
sports team memberships. Third is the average middle class, schooling until
high school and meager wages at ordinary jobs with no possibility of
improvement. Fourth is below the middle class, given schooling till jr. high
then put to work as laborers. The fifth category is the worst circumstance, taken
away from your family and given to a government facility to become a lab rat.

5. “There were no colors, no light, just black and white walls. The smell of
medication and and floor cleaner fills the air. You are given a number not
a name and a single caretaker that gives you the essentials to survive.
They tell us we are doing a service to the entire human race. We are given
basic education until we are twelve then they begin the daily tests after
our twelfth birthday. They take the best part of you and try to enhance it
and extract it. For me it was my above average ability to run long
distances at a fast rate. I feel like that is what kept me sane, my own
escape at times where I thought I was going to lose my mind were the
physical challenges they gave me everyday. Others were not so lucky, the
woman in the cell next to mine had the skill of memorization. Every day
they would test her memorization of material from the day before then
drug her until she could barely keep her eyes open and test her on her
memory at the time of delusion. I escaped because of my talent. In order
to physically enhance my skills they had to create a trail around the
enormous camp, every single time I would run the trail there would be a
weak spot in the electric fence. I had to run the trail multiple times to
memorize the spot and finally when the timing was right I escaped. “

6. Feminist women who have survived this cultural shock and idealism work
hard to try to change outlooks on inner and outer beauty. One of these
women is actually Sofia’s mother. Sofia’s mother raised her to be aware of
the type of idealism towards beauty but to know very well that this idea is
false. Sofia’s mother would tell her, “A person is so much more than their
looks and to create a human for that sole purpose is wrong.” Below is a

7. Throughout Sofia’s life she was put into the part of the country reserved for
African Americans. Borders are blocked out with high rise electrical fences.
Recently people of different races have come together to strike the segregation of
people by race. Through the makings of underground tunnels leaders of this
resistance meet and strategize then continually strike and block off borders.

8. The fight for marriage freedom is on. In all the states each group of race that is in a
lower category have banned together and protest in many different ways and forms
for equal marriage rights. Also people are fed up with having their new born babies
ripped out of their arms. The wealthier category has been strongly opposed towards
this fight since day one because if there was marriage equality genetic “mate” pairing
would have no use. People would marry who they want and over time people in
different categories would want to marry others in different categories. Interracial
couples would break the segregation boundaries, gay marriage would bring an
unfathomable amount of people together, and the entire system would eventually fall.
