A simple application to digitize books to create full
fledged e-books which will be the norm in the near future.
Thus preserving the existing knowledge as well as
making it easily accessible . As well as proof reading
content for websites and ecommerce sites.

2. THE SHIFT TOWARDS DIGITAL
 Likely increase in demand for e-books with a surge of handheld devices
like tablets (Ipad) and Readers (Kindle)
 The reading experience on such devices is no longer eye straining and is
getting closer and closer to actual physical book reading .
 Special efforts by giant companies like Apple to transition from the
physical books to digital e-books.
 Considerable reduction in the cost associated with creation of books for
publication houses.
 Low cost versions for developing countries will go a long way in
spreading education.
 Huge amount of data is created everyday by websites in the form of
content/e-commerce.

3. THE IDEA: DIGITIZE
 Digitize: A application that would allow people to convert data from
scanned jpeg files of book pages to word based text files.
 If not for mainstream use than atleast to create low cost versions for
distribution in developing countries where access to books is still a
dream for some people.
 Completely cloud based, for speedy processing and lesser dependence
on a single device (Mobile) for access
 Each user will receive random pages that they need to type out and
upload to the cloud.
 They can sync for more pages as per their work speed and
convenience.
 A performance linked incentive system will be in place that will determine
their payout as well as Group.

5. AVERAGE USER PROFILE
 Not highly skilled
 Basic ability to type, read and understand English.
 Willingness to familiarize oneself with
technology, as there is a slight learning curve with
respect to understanding the basic features such as
logging in to personal account, syncing etc.

6. PAYOUT STRUCTURE
 Will be directly linked to performance:
 5 or less mistakes per page (depending on word count
of an average page) = $X
 10 or less mistakes per page = $X-n (n being a suitable
deduction from the first case)
 10 or more mistakes per page = Rejected page hence
no pay.

7. INCENTIVE STRUCTURE
 The users will score certain incentives based on their
accuracy history. They may fall under any of these Groups.
 Quality Control: These will be experts and will have a perfect
accuracy record. They are normal users whose good work has
been recognized and now they perform Quality checks on
others work. This will be a rotating positions with a fixed
period.
 Experts: These will be users with a very good accuracy record
and the ones whose work requires minimum intervention from
QC. They will be paid at a higher rate than users. They will
eventually move to QC
 Users: These will be all the people using the service.

8. PROOF READ
 This is a another application of Digitize, used for proof
reading content.
 Huge amount of data is churned out everyday on the
web ranging from articles to website content to press
releases to product information on ecommerce sites.
 The idea being to root out basic mistakes that are bound
to creep in when large amount of data is created.
(Mismatch of titles and content, spelling mistakes etc)
 The payout/incentive structure will be the same as
mentioned earlier.

9. ACCESSIBILITY
 Since the majority of the users will be in developing
nations, there are certain issues that may arise as far as
the hardware (Smartphone's) is concerned.
 The solution is to take a community based approach.
 Providing a certain number of phones to a village/community
for public access.
 No individual ownership with the users. Owned by the service
provider/sponsor.
 Limited time access to the phone everyday /user
 Possibility to purchase the device on an financing model after
proven success (Money earned) using the service.
 Benefit: Access to more people with limited number of
devices.
