• A variable serves as a placeholder for information that
may change frequently.
• Using variables in source documents allows you to quickly
and easily control the content.
• When you change the value of a variable, it changes
the value in the whole document.

11. MS WORD SETTINGS FOR FIELD SHADING
• The fields are highlighted or shading appear only for fields which are
inserted using Insert toolbar ribbon > Quick Parts > Field.
• The Always option must be selected from the Field Shading list as in the
following screenshot.
