Social norms often regulate behaviors and identities, judging people who don't conform to stereotypes of gender, sexuality, and identity. However, exposing and expressing diversity through media helps people understand they are not alone. While stereotypes still exist, increased visibility and acceptance of those who identify as transgender or outside of social norms suggests society is becoming more modern and willing to accept people for who they truly are.
