Today we are developing our
     understanding of ‘ser’ and ‘estar’

 Why? Because be more confident we
 are with these two verbs the better
our marks for Range will be in the exam

You must: predict the correct ‘to be’ verb to fit the
phrase
You should: detect some patterns of verb endings
which will be useful
You could: try and create some phrases of your own
using the rules you have worked out
Mi familia es bastante grande y nuestra casa
está en las afueras de Madrid. Soy estudiante y
mis padres son profesores de informática. Somos
3 en casa.
Mi padre es alemán y es una persona muy alegre.
Mi abuela está enferma con artritis y mi
abuelo está muerto. Normalmente soy una persona
relajada.
La tarea..
1. Take the text and in pairs find as many
   different verb endings for the verb ‘ser’ as
   you can e.g. es= (it is) etc. Write what you
   think it means in English too. Use the context
   of the text to help you work this out.

2. Now do the same for ‘estar’ e.g. está= it is
Mini plenary
1. What was difficult about that task?
2. What do you think you now need to do with that
   information?
3. Could you now put your verbs into this order for each
   verb:

They

a) Do you have any gaps?
b) Could you predict what the missing words will look
like?

        eres= You are               estás= you are

        es= he/she/it is            está= he/she/it is

        sois= you are               estáis= you are

        son= they are               están= they are
