1. Day 4 Lesson Plan/ASSURE
Day 4 – Motion and Balance
A- Analyze the Learner
I will be teaching this unit plan to a group of 22 first graders. There are 11 boys and 11
girls. There are 21 white students and 1 African American. Most of my students come
from middle upper class families, however there are several students that come from
families of a lower socioeconomic status.
S- State Objectives
My students will demonstrate knowledge of motion and balance after answering
questions from our class blog the night before, viewing my robot, participating in a hands
on activities, and discussing/recording their answers by the end of the day with 85%
accuracy.
S- Selection of Media, Method, and Material
For this lesson, students will use a blog, look at my robot, and spin a top.
U- Utilize Media and Materials
In the activity from the night before, students would need to answer questions that I
posted on our classroom blog. I would post to the blog ahead of time.
R- Require Learner Participation
To begin the lesson in class, we will discuss students’ answers to the blog post. Students
will provide examples of things that only have balance when they are in motion. Then,
students spin a top in groups of two, and decide why they think the top only has balance
when it is in motion. Finally, groups will discuss their answers with the class. Then, we
will continue our lesson, and I will explain why some things only have balance when they
are in motion. Once again, we will record in our journals.
E- Evaluate and Revise
The following rating will be used to evaluate students’ knowledge of holiday traditions.
1. Students answered blog questions by posting to the blog.
2. Students participated in class discussion and recorded in their journals.
3. Students worked well with their partner.
