PROFITABILITY. Assessment 1. On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 indicating “this is nothing like me” and 10 indicating “I do this consistently”), circle the number corresponding to the accuracy of the following statements compared to how you listen to others: I encourage other people to talk. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 I listen the same way to a customer or a colleague. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 I always look the other person in the eye when I listen. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 I listen even when I don’t like the person talking. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 I always let the other person finish what they are saying. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 I really try to understand what the other person is saying. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 I use non-verbal signals to indicate that I’m listening. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 I pay close attention to non-verbal signals from the person 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 talking when I am listening. I listen carefully even when I anticipate what the other 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 person is going to say. I am not easily distracted when someone else is talking. I 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 always maintain my focus on them. 2. Add up your total, giving yourself one point per the rating you gave yourself for each question. For example, an answer of 8 would equal 8 points. (Please note: The highest possible score is 100. Should you score 100 points, please stand immediately and introduce yourself to the world. You're indeed a rarity!) My listening score is: 3.
