1. Your Dashboard for Places & Events
Save, Organize, Share
Places & Events you Like
Social Visual Bookmarking for Places & Events
2. Our story
What?
June 2010: Startup Weekend: Original idea:
-Save, organize and share
-Places you like
-With your friends
Why?
-Bookmark and organize places you like: curation
-Help word of mouth around places: share
-Discover places from people you know: friends
How?
-Bookmarks and reviews: focus on recommendation, not on check’in
-Easily create lists of places & find them on the map
-Social network only for friends: trust, relevance and privacy
-Open «Mapstore»: users can share lists of places with entire community
3. Our achievements
Sep 2010 - Sep 2011: Development of Web & iPhone apps:
-Resourceful: 25K€ (real cost: 150-200K€)
-Managed: 4 web developers / 2 iPhone developers / 4 designers
-50 HEC Paris students / 3 classes worked on concept & propagation
With no money, execution was discontinous:
-Lack of basic and obvious features (FB connect)
-Beta-test and public launch were limited
-Never had a full-time team to improve when needed
However:
-Real need: 2K people joined & approved (20% foreigners / 15% US)
-Market confirmed our vision: towards social bookmark and curation
-Feedback, market & newcomers showed us where to go...
4. 2011: from check’in...
1- Matchbook & Scoville, new services based on Foursquare API,
introduced bookmark and curation of places:
2- Foursquare added bookmark, lists and curation of places:
5. 2012: to visual bookmarking
Market awareness:
1. Curation: too much content > boards to organize
2. Bookmarklets: navigators at the center of bookmark and share
3. UXD: content relies massively on pictures
4. Interests : mix of relevance & serendipitous discovery
Product evolutions:
1. Design is the new focus : simple & beautiful
2. Share is open: people you know + you follow
3. Fast, easy, with relevant content : wow effect
Funnel to make the service personal
Direct display of relevant content
One-click import of contacts & bridges to other services
8. So what?
Momentum:
Big new trend for visual bookmarking services
Opportunity:
Half-developed product easy to «pivot» and specialize on places and events
Pawer V.2: "Your personal dashboard for places and events”
The missing link between places, events, people and media sources
Principles:
1-Renewed design: strong focus on pictures and website
2-Funnel: personalized boards and relevant content from the start
3-Events: creating the link between discovery of places and events to attend
4-Content creation: share of a link automatically catches photos / address and
name of the place / adress, name and date of the event
5-System of followers: open and traceable share
