This document summarizes the history and vision of the IU-HBCU STEM Initiative, which was established in 2006 to increase collaboration between Indiana University and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in STEM fields. It discusses partnerships with 12 HBCUs and outlines plans to expand the initiative to include additional Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) like Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) under a new $1.6 million grant. The expanded IU-MSI STEM Initiative will focus on five components over five years, including engaging more partners, establishing a Faculty Research Development Institute, facilitating faculty and student exchanges, enabling
