3. 10 Digital Photography Secrets for Astonishing Photos - http://www.photoaxe.com
1. Buy a good camera, especially a DSLR
Ok, maybe you think this isn't an advice. Unfortunately this is the
number one secret to success photography.
You equipment matters! A lot! You can't obtain the same quality
photos from point and shoot camera as from a DSLR camera.
It's ok if you are a beginner to start with a point and shoot
camera, but be aware if you really, really like photography is time
for you to get a DSLR camera - Nikon, Canon or Pentax (for a low
budget) are my recommendations.
Guess which one is made with a point and shoot and which one is
made with a DSLR ? You guess it right, the first one (left) is made
with a Canon point and shoot and the second one with a Nikon DSLR.

2. Photograph dogs, cats, birds and cute animals
In photography it's all about emotion. Everybody loves cats, dogs and
cute little baby animals.
This cute animals will transmit joy, sadness or any other human
emotion in a very strong way.
Dogs and cats aren't like us. If they feel something, they don't hide it!
So be sure to get lots of photos of this special animals, your photos
will have a strong impact on the viewer of your photograph.
Simple photos, but with so strong emotion! Isn't it?

3. Photograph Children
Another secret for having strong emotions of joy in photos is to
photograph children. Photograph children especially in nature. They
are "wilder" and they express more.
Try not to get observed. If they observe you, they will pay attention
to you and your camera and all the naturalness of the scene can be
ruined.

4. Get Strong Emotion from Adults by Staying
FAR Away
Unfortunately, adults forget to express their feelings in public or when
they know somebody is watching them.
If it's a group photo they get together and smile. This is all they know
to do when they see a camera. But you can grab some really cool and
strong emotions if you photograph them when they don't watch.
For this, stay behind and use zoom lenses with vibrate reduction.
Here are some photos, from a short photo trip in the park.

5. If You Are Not Pleased With the Adults Go for
The Actors
Sometimes adults really forget how to express them self. But actors
don't!
Go to an open air theater or to a circus show. You will sure find
some great scenes to shoot!

6. Take a lot of photos and delete the bad
ones
One of the best secret of the pro photographers is that they know
that not all photos are good. To succeed means to get more
photos and keep just the good ones. After keeping just the good
ones show to the public just the BEST of this photos.
For example, on a trip of mine I've made 2000 photos in 2 days. I
kept only ten and showed to the others only two of this photos. So
don't get anxious if a photo will not be what you want.
Just shoot, shoot and shoot!
For this photo I've shoot 300 times at least, and made 50 or so
settings!

7. Make manual settings of white balance,
ISO and shutter speed depending on the
scene
If it's a scene where you have time to make manual settings, do
this! Try to adjust white balance manually (for that check your
camera manual).
Also test what ISO you can use. Try to use the smaller ISO
possible. The smaller the ISO number the clearer the photo (no
photo noise).Raise the ISO when the scene is darker.
Also try to adjust the shutter speed- smaller for fast shooting
with no trailing light in the photo or slower if you want trails of
light or blur effects in your photos (depends).
For fireworks, a long shutter speed is recommended. For a bee
that flies the shortest shutter speed is recommended.

8. Use a tripod
Let me tell you very clear: a tripod is a MUST. You can't expect to
call yourself a photographer if you do not have a tripod.
Tripod can and must be used in the day, in the night, indoor or
outdoor. Use tripods wherever you can.
A tripod helps you get steady photos. Do not trust you steady
arm or your camera built in vibrate reduction. The best vibrate
reduction out there is a tripod.
Look at the professional studios, you will always see a tripod.
So get one, a steady one and be sure to be compatible with your
camera weight.

9. Go out and make photos when the sun
rises or when the sun sets
This one is one of my favorite technique. Photography means
painting with light.
You can't expect to get astonishing photos at 12 pm a clock when
the sun is up in the sky.
When the sun is up in the sky, this means:
- white sky
- no shades
You are an artist. Use the morning and the fall to get the best out
of your colors.

10. Edit your photos
Do not expect to have great photos right from you camera. It's
not like that.
Almost all your photos need some retouching: work with the
colors, work whith the contrast and light, work with the focus and
crop the photo to have a good composition.
Also add a frame. It helps a lot!
