As the number of dengue cases continue to rise, the Centre on Monday
asked all states, including Delhi, to step up preventive measures. In a
meeting with senior officials from various ministries, cabinet secretary P K
Sinha reviewed preventive and clinical management measures to deal with
the situation. Sinha also met senior officials from the Delhi government and
other departments including MCD and NDMC, an official said.
Extending all support and assistance to states, Sinha directed states to set up
a 24x7 separate unit in each hospital manned by a senior doctor to attend to
all fever related cases.
Health Minister J P Nadda also reviewed the facilities for treatment of
dengue patients in major central government hospitals including AIIMS,
Safdarjung and Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.

In a meeting with senior officials from the health ministry , Nadda monitored
stocks of diagnostic test kits and paracetamol. Government hospitals have
been asked to submit a status report on dengue on a daily basis and
maintain inventory for test kits and medicines.
Nadda also visited Sucheta Kriplani and Kalawati Saran hospitals.
“In Safdarjung Hospital, 260 beds are exclusively designated for dengue
patients while 110 beds are earmarked in RML, including 70 for adults. In
addition, 93 beds in Sucheta Kriplani Hospital and 70 beds in Kalawati Saran
hospital have been allotted for dengue patients,“ a senior official said.
At AIIMS, every ward will have two beds designated for dengue patients.
