In 1994: Salba® was successfully introduced in Colombia.
In 1997: Further experimental crops were planted in Bolivia and Peru.
From 1997 – Present: Selective breeding (non-GMO) is conducted over a nine-year period
leading to the development of a predominantly white grain with a standardised composition
and greater nutritional properties.
4. The Agricultural Science of Salba®
After the creation of the Salba® variety, its potency has
been further maximised through:
• Climate Selection: The planet’s most optimal place to harvest;
the desert coast of Peru.
• Non-GMO Selective Breeding: Each batch is tested rigorously
to pinpoint the most nutritionally consistent seeds. These seeds
are then utilised in the maker’s distinctive breeding process,
classifying Salba® as an heirloom crop.
• Crop Lifecycle: Salba® seeds are not harvested early, only at
their most nutritious apex.
