JOB DESCRIPTION
Employees in this job direct the activities of subordinate personnel to provide support for
Either a microcomputer or mainframe computer environment. The employee works
within general methods and procedures, exercises considerable independent judgment
to select the proper course of action, and is required to review the work of subordinate
information technology technicians and/or supervisors, to ensure conformance with
established guidelines, methods, procedures, and policies related to the information
Technology program area.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
 Implement, maintain and monitor all necessary hardware and networks to provide services to the
company.
 Oversee all operational services for corporate systems.
 Responsible for the availability of IT systems and procedures to optimize the availability of services.
 Plan, organize and manage IT regional staff, overall operations to ensure the stable and secure
operation of the IT infrastructure.
 Implement preventive and corrective solutions using the right tools.
 Assisting the IT Manager to establish security strategies related to all IT infrastructures.

Job Summary:
Responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, inventory, and security of
technical resources, which includes file servers, workstations (desktop and laptop computers),
peripheral devices (printers, scanners, etc.), presentation systems, and application software

ESSENTIAL TASKS:
 Install, configure, and maintain file servers, workstations, and peripheral devices in accordance with
established standards and procedures

compliance with license agreements and copyright legislation
 Provide user support for installed workstations, peripheral devices, and standard software
applications; diagnose and resolve issues reported to the Help Desk by academic and

 Advise the Director, Information Technology of technical issues and consult with vendor support
agencies to resolve problems and determine equipment requirements
 Collaborate with operations staff to evaluate network requirements and develop solutions to provide
the required services; install, configure, and troubleshoot network equipment
 Maintain an accurate inventory of technical equipment, including system and software
configurations and network addressing
 Implement software utilities, install hardware devices, and develop procedures to ensure the
security and reliability of equipment, software, and data resources
 Acquire and maintain requisite technical skills to accurately diagnose and resolve problems and
concerns associated with computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices
 Compile on-line and hardcopy operational, procedural, and informational documentation sets for
equipment standards, configuration, inventory, troubleshooting, and repair procedures
 Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures,
techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
 Knowledge of College Information Technology Policy
 Knowledge of department and college policies, procedures, and practices with the ability to answer
work related questions; and/or interpret and apply these guidelines correctly in various situations
 Knowledge of current systems and network technologies and standards and their practical
application in the academic environment
