This document discusses environmental issues related to tourism. It begins by defining tourism environment and the factors that influence environmental impacts, such as number of tourists, length of stay, and type of activity. Both positive and negative environmental impacts are outlined. Positive impacts include preserving the environment through ecotourism and sustainable tourism, as well as financial and social benefits. Negative impacts include various forms of pollution, destruction of ecosystems, and depletion of resources. Specific types of pollution from tourism like water, noise, air, and their effects are described. 14. Himalayan Ski Resort Issue
John Sims, a US Hotel developer proposed to build a 115 acre India's first
Western style Ski- Resort in Manali.
Some opponents falsely claimed that it will take over the entire valley and
others said the developers had underpaid landowners.
Since the different political party took over, the $500 million proposal went
into a scrap
Now the court has allowed the developers to move forward, giving 6 months
to secure environmental permit from the government.
15. Analysis of the Himalayan ski Resort Issue:
• According to the issue,
• Mr. Sims got frustrated and Questioned us " WHY DID YOU INVITE US? "
• It created a bad image on our country and in future it will be difficult to
attract developers to come and invest in our country.
• Distrust and lack of coordination was one biggest issue
