2. REAL MEDIA TEXTS…
Any sort of media that we wish to analyse or examine.
This can be in the form of a magazine, website, music video, films, video
games, TV programmes, books, posters or manuscripts.

3. WHAT ARE THE
CONVENTIONS OF A HORROR
TRAILER?
After analysing three horror trailers (media Language investigation) I have
noticed a recurrence of certain conventions that appeared.
Firstly the dark lighting setting a scary scene whether it was inside or out. The
change in the music when a disruption occurred, creating tension and fear for
the audience, a voice-over and sentences appeared on the screen making
the audience think and are stereotypical conventions included in a horror
trailer helping tell the synopsis.

4. THEORIES THAT LINK…
Todorov’s theory can be applied to the horror trailers as it is peaceful at the
beginning then the horror begins creating the panic and disorder throughout
the horror trailer.
