Implicit in defining the units of analysis lies a reductionism. To fine the units systemic interaction with its context is research. In Memetics this research is about diffusion and adaptation of units (memes). The axiomatic presupposition that units influence the complex wholes they are a part of, is an epistemological holistic perspective.
