Secondly, street vendors are a source of employment as they occupy
a large part of informal sector in Dhaka city.
Thirdly, street vendors offer intense
services for the city dwellers within
reasonable cost range.
Street food seller struggle to get the access to their vending sites
such as street corners, bus terminals ,on the way to
work, close to the office, home, at places where rickshaw
pullers can take rest; and where more formal food provision services
cannot meet food demand in rush hour or lunch-break in institutionalized
public spaces such as school or university grounds.

SOME STATISTICS:
Informal employment was estimated
about 89% of total number job in
labor market in Bangladesh
(informal sector and informal employment in Bangladesh,
country report 2010).
SOME STATISTICS:
Among various types of informal job, after rickshaw-
pulling, street food vending is probably
the second most important
employment opportunity for urban
poor in Bangladesh, and particularly important for
young and middle-aged men who have migrated to Dhaka in
the past 5to 10 years (world bank 2007: 168).
SOME STATISTICS:
3, 00,000 street vendors
live and work in Dhaka
(Islam 2005: 25f; both estimations for 2005)).
SOME STATISTICS:
From this statistic, we can easily say that,
To know condition of street food vendors is an important concern for us &
most importantly for govt.
From this sector govt. can collect huge
amount of tax which will definitely plays a
great role for development of our country &
which will also help to improve standard of
living of those food vendors.
Recommendation:
street food vendors play an important role in Dhaka city.
At root, it creates various jobs and absorbs a rising proportion of
unemployed workers.
For the betterment of street vendors a number of suggestions can be
coming forward.
1.Recognition and proper assistance of this
sector have to be improved.

3. Experience and capital are more important
than formal education for this sector. So, it is
a potential area for massive unskilled/semi
skilled unemployed population.
Recommendation:
4. For proper management of street vending
cooperation between municipalities and the
police is necessary.
5. Municipalities should update national policies for the management of
vendors which will be helpful to tackle social and economic problems
associated with vendors.

7. Street vendors in our country are
unlicensed. Government should issue
licenses to those who want to start this
business.
By implementation of proper public
management system, street vendors
would become a role model for urban
dwellers of Dhaka city.
Limitations of this research work:
Time & cost constraint.
Because of vendors busyness they could not tell
everything about this sector completely.
Sample size should be more diversified.
They do a great job for our society by providing
ready food instantly for our busy people in a very
cheap price.
All of us has responsibility for them.
If we & our govt. come around & take some
initiative for their improvement they can provide
us more service with quality food in a reasonable
price & by collecting tax from them, they can also
contribute for our nation.
THANK YOU
