Main area of activity
My main rea of activity is video as I will be doing a documentary web series pilot episode.
Target Audience
My target audience is 16-20 as I feel this is the sort of age that would watch a documentary in
the style that im making it as its not a normal documentary and will be more contemporary and
less traditional.
Rationale:
through the year I made a music video an animated game and a documentary, these have all helped
me acquire the skills and knowledge I need to make this documentary and too make it in the way I want
and it be made at a high level as I’m now familiar with a lot of editing techniques and software’s. I will
use the skills such as editing techniques and filming techniques to create a more interesting and more
visually appealing.
As I’ve done a documentary, I can use the knowledge I acquired from that to make an improved
documentary as I already know what works and what doesn’t.
Project Concept:
My concept is to make a pilot episode for a documentary series, it will be about breakdancing and
some other forms of dance and the impact it had and has on culture in terms of fashion and music and
just the impact it had on people’s lives. It won’t be like you usual documentary but I will be definitely
applying methods used in documentaries in my own whilst adding my own elements to keep it original.
I want it to be informative but also visually appealing and make it something you would watch even if
you’re not that interested in the topic itself but more just the video whilst also having the information
and substance for a viewer who is interested in the topic so it appeals to a wider audience.
I will be researching breakdancing to find interesting and good questions for my interview and dance
documentaries and documentaries as a whole whilst also looking at books and websites to get more
information on how to make my documentary better and look my professional. This research I feel will
greatly improve the quality and professionalism of my work but also, I feel it will improve the time it
takes and I’ll know exactly what I need to do and how to do it which will make me work much more
effectively.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
We will be doing weekly evaluation forms to keep a record of how our work is doing. I will also show
people whether that be classmates or teachers to get feedback to help improve my work.
The process of self reflection and peer feedback will all help as I’ll get ongoing advice to help better
improve my work whilst also being able to self-evaluate as I’m self-reflecting which will also improve the
quality of my work and improve my career in media a whole.
