This document compares low, mid, and high priced magazines. Low priced magazines under £1 have crowded covers intended to imply value but use cheap paper. Mid priced magazines between £1-£3 have less cluttered covers to appeal to more sophisticated readers and some offer digital versions. High priced magazines over £3 have minimalistic covers intended to look professional and appeal to older, wealthier audiences, and offer subscriptions in addition to print and digital formats.
3. The magazines above fall into the very cheap category as
they are all under £1. It is stereotypical that the price is
advertised in a large pug normally at the top of grab buyers
attention, which is also the main selling line. Each of these
magazines are all very busy and over crowded with too
many colours and images, although this is to grab readers
attention and imply that there is also a lot of content in the
magazine which is good value for money. The overall
presentation isn't very good and does not look very
professional, the actual feel of the paper used is also very
cheap and thin which is why they are all of such a low cost.
These magazines have a wide target market as they are
very cheap and easily accessed, as they are sold in most
supermarkets and news agents.

5. These images of magazines are of mid priced magazines
which cost more than £1 but less than £3. The layouts of
these magazines are not as busy and messy as the cheap
magazines but still have a lot of information on the front, this
has been done as they are a bit more expensive and would
attract a more sophisticated target audience. Having a
plainer layout on the front cover allows the audience to
focus in more detail on the cover lines which could be the
main focus of that weeks magazine. Each of these medium
prices magazines are sold the same as cheap magazines,
such as supermarkets and service stations, however most of
them are also sold digitally. This is due to some company's
having more money to do this, NME is a good example as
they send digital copies to their avid music fans via email to
attract more customers.

7. These are examples of more expensive magazines all over £3
per issue. Each of these covers all have a very spaced out
layout giving it a more professional look to it, also as the
target market for these would be elder women/ upper class.
They also have very little information on them but enough to
draw the consumer in so they want to read inside. The main
feature of higher priced magazines would be the main
image so having low amount of writing is important. Even
these high priced magazines are also sold in places such as
news agents and supermarkets yet can also be downloaded
on the internet as they have better/ higher branded
marketing companies. A lot of magazines also offer a
subscription so that you wont miss any issues this is a luxury
point to it as not cheap magazines would have this quality.
