Present Progressive, Past
    Progressive, Simple
Past, Verbs, My Family Tree.

                Carol Daniela
                Pinzón Rendón.
 The present progressive is formed by combining the verb
"to be" with the present participle. (The present participle
is merely the "-ing" form of a verb.)
 I am studying.
    I am studying with María.


In English, present progressive can be used to describe
what is happening now, or what will happen in the future.
 I am studying now.
I am studying with María tonight.


In Spanish, the present progressive is only used to describe
an action that is in the process of taking place. It
is not used for future actions.
 Positive Negative Question
 I / he / she / it was speaking .
 I was not speaking. Was I speaking ?

 you / we / they were speaking .
 You were not speaking . Were you speaking ?

 Exceptions in spelling when adding ing Example
final e is dropped (but: e is not changed)
 come – coming
    (but: agree – agreeing)after a short, stressed
vowel, the final consonant is doubled
sit – sitting as final consonant after a vowel is
doubled (in British English)travel – travelling final I
    e becomes y lie – lying
 Use of Past Progressive
 puts emphasis on the course of an action in the past
  Example: He was playing football.
 two actions happening at the same time (in the
  past)Example: While she was
preparing dinner, he was washing the dishes.
 action going on at a certain time in the past
Example: When I was having breakfast, the phone
  suddenly rang.
 Signal Words of Past Progressive
 when, while, as long as
 Probably at first did not understand because
English verbs were divided into regular and
  irregular.
 Roughly regular verbs ending-ed English
  have-when you change time past
participle, that means for example that
 I play -I played I Study I studied
 however absolutely irregular change its
  base, and in some cases not change, ie;
