“You Are Wonderful!”
Some years ago a famous singer had been contracted to sing
in the Paris Opera House. The sale of tickets was fantastic. On
the night of the scheduled performance, the feeling of
anticipation and excitement was in the air. The Manager of
the Opera House came on the stage and made the following
announcement:
“Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for your support. I
am sad to tell you that the man whom you’ve all come to hear
will not be able to perform because he is down with an illness.
However, we have found a suitable substitute we hope will
provide you with comparable entertainment.
The audience groaned in disappointment and did not even
bother to hear the stand-in’s name. The whole atmosphere in
the House turned from excitement to one of frustration.
The stand-in performer gave the performance everything he
had. When he had finished, an uncomfortable silence
pervaded the air. No one applauded at all,
Suddenly, from the balcony, a little boy stood up and shouted,
“Daddy, I think you are wonderful!” The crowd broke into
thunderous applause.
Reflection
* We need people in our lives who can appreciate what we do.
Just some encouragement and support from someone is enough
to lift up our morale and spirit.
* Do keep in mind that out there, there will be people who
appreciate and value what we attempt the best we can to help
others.

The Three Bones
An Irish father was seeing his son off on a steamship where
the lad was going to a new land with the intention of seeking
his fortune in a new way of life. "Now, Michael, my boy,"
said the father as they parted, "remember the three bones,
and you will always get along all right."
A stranger standing nearby overheard the remark, and
when the ship was underway, he asked the old gentleman to
tell him about the three bones he referred to in his parting
advice to his son.
Sure, my friend," responded the old Irishman. “The three
important bones are the Wishbone, the Jawbone and the
Backbone.”
“Why are these three bones important?” the stranger asked.
The old Irishman explained, “It’s the wishbone that keeps
you going after things; it’s the jawbone that helps you find
out how to go after them if you are not too proud to ask a
question when there’s something you don’t know, and it’s the
backbone that keeps you at it until you get there."

Reflections
* In life, one has to have meaningful goals and set out with
patience, determination and endurance to attain the goal.
* We need to ask and learn from the wise ones who know as we set
out in life’s journey in pursuit of our goals.
* We should not give up or quit in our quest to attain the set goal.
Failure should not daunt us. Persistence is the golden thread that
runs through every success of man.
