5. Early Out is the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. School is dismissed at 2:00pm on Early Out days.
6. Call Mrs. Kapphahn, as soon as possible, if your student is going to be absent. Please call the office to make a homework and/or missed assignment request by 9:30 am to give the teacher ample time to get the work together .

10. Graded papers will be passed back as they are graded. Graded papers and notes home will be in the notes home pocket of the colored pocket folder. The colored pocket folder should be cleaned out nightly. Notes to return to school should be placed in the return to school pocket of the colored pocket folder .
11. After graded papers have been viewed by the parents, the papers need to be placed behind the corresponding subject tab. Subject tabs will be cleaned out at school at the end of the unit.
12. Students will fill out their assignment sheet daily. Assignments will be posted in the classroom, in the hallway and given orally.
13. A proper study environment should be established at home to facilitate good study habits. It is important to establish a spot for the student binder at home. One location makes it easy for parents to check the binder and students to return it to school the next day.
14. Homework Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday . Typical homework schedule will be… Monday: Language Arts and Math Tuesday: Social Studies and Math Wednesday: Science and L. Arts Thursday: Spelling pretest and Math
15. A homework slip will be issued when homework is not turned in on time. The student will sit out at recess to finish the assignment. The homework slip is mailed home. The student’s grade will drop upon receiving 3 homework slips in one subject in one grading period ( an A- would drop to a B+).
16. Tests Tests will be given at the conclusion of a unit of study. Sufficient review will be done in class. Review sheets will be sent home for parents to see what the tests will cover. Test formats will vary.
17. Interim reports are mailed at the mid-point of the nine week grading period. Interims are designed to inform parents of student progress half way through the grading period. Report cards are sent home with the students at the end of the nine week grading period.

19. Accelerated Reader Students are expected to read a minimum of 10 points per nine week grading period. At the beginning of the year, students are required to read level 3.0 or higher. At midterm, students will be required to read level 3.5 or higher.
20. AR rewards are awarded after the last day of the nine week grading period. 10 points = special pencil 15 points = special pencil and free dress 20 points = special pencil, free dress, and lunch with teacher in the classroom
21. Summer AR tests must be completed by Friday, August 18, 2006. Summer reading points will not apply to the 1st nine week grading period. AR points for the 1 st nine week grading period will begin Monday, August 21, 2006.
23. Classroom Discipline 1. Follow directions the first time given . 2. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself. 3. Raise your hand to speak during instruction . 4. Name calling and/or teasing will not be allowed. 5. Have necessary items ready for class.
24. Edline Edline information is posted weekly. The posted information will cover the upcoming week. Edline is a super communication tool for parents, students, and teachers. Weekly use of Edline will ensure that you are properly informed .
25. Handbooks It is essential to read and discuss the Third Grade and Oakridge Handbooks with your child. Sign and return the signature page from the Third Grade handbook once you have reviewed it with your child.
