My Reflection On My Writing Capabilities
1. My Opinion On English 101
English 101 has helped shape my writing in so many ways. I have grown and became more
confident in the skills I portray. In–class workshops helped me to receive feedback and new ideas
from my peers. My view of English has changed drastically for the best. Along with my writing
skills my reading and critical thinking skills have also improved. I learned the importance of using
ethos, pathos, and logos. Putting text in dialog has been a struggle for me in the past but I now have a
better grasp on it after taking English 101. I'm happy I had to take English 101 because it has helped
prepare for not only English 102 but my other classes as well. Making my paper ethical to everyone
was a very important part of my writing. It was most important to make sure all of my quotes were
cited correctly. Going along with that, it was important to not twist the authors words. It is wrong
to try to take credit for someone else's work. The audience to my writing could be so many
different people so the language I use is a big deal. Certain words have different meanings and can
be offensive if used incorrectly. In order to keep the papers ethical, it is important to choose every
word with care.
The in–class workshops helped the most because I was able to get multiple different view points
instead of just mine. When we work shopped my paper I was really nervous to hear what everyone
had to say. After the class started to rip my paper apart, they began to point out all the areas that I did

2. My Main Goal To Improve Writing Skills
The main goal for English III was to become a better writer, improve in writing skills, and be
prepared for English 112. I will be talking about my improvements and also my struggles with
writing. Throughout the course I have made progress, but I have also struggled with certain skills.
Although my writing skills improved there is still room for greater improvement in time
management. As I continue to improve and set goals to accomplish, I expect myself to be
successful in more challenges to come. Writing skills, strengths and weaknesses, and also reflective
writing helps an individual realize what they need to work on, how they can improve, and also to not
make the same mistake.

However, as I improved in critical thinking and note taking skills, I also improved in coming up
with more ideas, evidence, and being able to determine the importance of my ideas and arguments. I
planned outlines for my papers better and instead of just writing and thinking of ideas at the
moment, I already knew exactly what to say and how to say it. For example, I took notes on the
TED Talk about technology and also the TED Talk about The American Dream, which helped me
create an outline for Assignment 3 and 4. As I used critical thinking and note taking skills, I
realized why the topic many be important, decide what I am aiming for, and make a decision
based on the range of possibilities. As I aimed for the best solutions, gathering, and evaluation of
information, I also aimed to find the best reasoning for the importance of a topic. This skill was
applied in reading quizzes, research drafts, revisions, and final assignments. Critical thinking and
note taking required the development and use of ideas and that is exactly what improving in this
skill allowed me to

3. My Self Reflection Paper
Ever since I was a young girl, I have been drawn to writing. It helped me make up for the lack of
creativity that I had in other areas. Although I have gotten a lot of writing practice in, I still seem
to let plenty of errors slip by without being aware of it. I want to become a better writer with each
paper I write. Therefore, in order to further progress in my writing abilities, I want to address my
current strengths, weaknesses, and goals for the future.
I often lack the confidence to clearly communicate my strengths in any area of life, but more
specifically, writing. However, after looking at the grades on my most recent paper, I am able to
see more clearly what my strengths consist of. I noticed that I tend to always get the points...show

Besides that, I have a few other weaknesses, and small punctuation errors are one of them. The
amount of times that I have made a comma or colon error is hilarious, yet slightly discouraging. I
am working hard on improving these errors and trying not to let them get to me as much as they
do. I do, in fact, have a few goals for the continuing semester of Composition One. I desire to work
on my pronoun agreements, which I know I can find in The Little, Brown Compact Handbook on
page 240. I also want to become better at my word choices, as I know that a lot of them are
non–descriptive and somewhat basic. I know that I am capable of accessing plenty of resources,
such as the Thesaurus, to help me come up with better adjectives to place in my papers. It is
simply a matter of taking advantage of those resources to help me achieve that success. I also will
become better at adding transitions, and I intend to practice them at home whenever I have the
chance. I know how to use FANBOYS and HOTSHOT CATS; however, I struggle with
identifying where they would fit best in the paper. I look forward to getting better at these goals as
I continue through Composition One. My draw to writing has really been beneficial for me
throughout my seventeen years of age. I have been able to use it to express myself more than any
other art medium. Now that I am able to identify my strengths, weaknesses, and goals, I can progress
towards becoming a

4. Essay on The Class to Help My Future Career
During this semester I have learned a lot of qualities to help me in my future career. It has also
been one of my challenging semester, having six classes of my final semester has been stressful.
This English class one of my favorite class because it was not the "typical" class or English class.
This class did not have the prototypical test or papers that most classes have. Instead it has been a
hands on class that focuses on the things you need to be successful in order to find a career and be
successful in finding that career. Throughout the semester we have learned different activities to help
us in our career goals. The first activity that we discussed was the website comparison. This activity
was something I never noticed, until I...show more content...

experience at a hotel and it of many options. The hotel rooms are family friendly but also business
friendly. It offers package deals for business that are holding conferences but also families taking
regular vacations. The law prevention part of the website was very basic and describing the
requirements for the job but also what is needed to perform the job at a high level. These websites
were different from each other but all had similar purposes attracting different audiences. The next
part of the semester we focused on job searches and what to look for when doing a search. The
aspects of a career and a job were also discussed, the difference in the two if essential when putting
in an application. Furthermore, you must know the qualification when applying for a job.

5. Asking For Help Essay
Prior to completing Skip Downing's "On Course Self Assessment," I was starting to realize one of
my most sabotaging behaviors. I find it incredibly difficult to say a three–word phrase. When it
comes to assisting others, I have no problem lending a helping hand, but I cannot tell anyone that "I
need help." In writing this paper I hope to recognize the roots of my problem and adopt a plan to
aid me in overcoming this negative behavior. After I took the self–assessment and received a low
score in the area of interdependence, I began considering options for overcoming my hesitation so
that I may become a successful student. The first strategy is to learn that I cannot do everything by
myself. Typically, I never ask for...show more content...
We cannot know everything, and we can all benefit from mutual helping relationships. I may need
someone to explain something discussed in Psychology class today and that person may need the
favor returned for English. Working together and helping others is important in almost every area
of life. I do not need to feel ashamed for reaching out first. As a result of doing the assessment, I
realized that I seldom request and often reject offers of assistance. A successful student would
employ interdependence by actively seeking out mutually supportive relationships to help achieve
their goals and dreams, while doing the same for others in return. I chose this topic because I do not
want to be a struggling student! Interdependence is a key factor in being successful in college. In
order to obtain a degree a college student must do well in all areas of their studies. To accomplish
that, he or she must comprehend the subject matter taught and apply what they learn. If a student
does not understand something and refuses to ask for help when it is readily available, they are
only hurting themselves. Three little words can make all the difference. By asking someone who is
more knowledgeable than they may be in a certain area, they could find the missing pieces that lead
to total understanding. This will enable them to perform better on my assignments and to keep
moving forward towards that college degree. College can be an

6. My Writing As A Career
Writing is not a profession for me, it's more like a path to reach Zen. I'm a budding creative writer
who focusses on coming up with meaningful contents which can help my readers in some way or
the other. So, needless to say, I don't do crappy jobs at all.
I am an avid reader and like to see the historical side of stories to have an understanding of the
vastness of wisdom, so that some day, my wisdom could be reflected through the pages of my writing
.
See how dreamy my writing looks ? Don't worry , tell me who your target audience are and I can
tailor the story accordingly. But at least when we talk, lets keep the dreamy side up and create
something meaningful and beautiful.

7. How My Writing Has Improved
After this semester of English 102, at Bristol Community College I feel that I have gained the
skill to articulate what I want to convey to the reader in many ways. I don't just look at
grammatical error, but instead I look for ways to make my sentences more effective and concise.
Nevertheless, I hope that this strategy will continue to help me improve my writing even further
on in the future. My strong points as a reader have also definitely improved after reading the
poems and stories we experienced this semester. Writing has been an important form of
expression for me. I find myself to be very soft spoken and speaking verbally is usually difficult
for me because I can't always seem to find the right words to say. I feel that I am more expressive
and have more control over what I want to say. While this semester progressed toward its end, I
have learned new writing skills and gradually learned how to engage with audiences. This skill
was very useful in meeting my course goals in English 102. I believe that I have grown at
organization and careful stream my thoughts as well. Before I would just begin writing my papers
without any plans or organization, along with no definite idea of where I would be going with the
assignments, but throughout this course I've learned that you should base your paper around your
thesis statement. Another skill I took from this class was to value my classmate's responses, from
their reactions made me much more aware that my main ideas

Improvement English 100 has been one of the classes that I have learned the most out of. I felt
the challenge there was in writing, but with my professor Barbara Goncalves who taught the
class strictly was able to cover several things for a writer. The things that were very helpful in my
perspective was the use of the grammar book and practicing the exercises. My professor
Goncalves did a great job to teach the class, she was available at all time if any student was having
difficulties throughout the lesson. Meanwhile, by the end of the semester I was able to see
improvement in my content, organization, and grammar. In addition, my writing skills have not

writing and how to better my writing. I look at my paper work done and I see the progress I have
made with my writing due to grammar. At a point, I thought I knew how to write an essay but in

9. My Writing Experience Essay
Overall, I enjoy writing. Preferably, I find comfort in writing without expectation or criticisms. I
am familiar with the areas of my writing that need improvement, but my apprehensions stem from
lack of time, discipline, and focus. It is undeniable that I enjoy writing as a free form of
expression to keep secrets or share, it is a leisure for me. So, I will not take the time necessary to
hone my skill set any further than what required of me during my academic career. When it comes
to discipline and focus I find myself passionately articulating and editing my thoughts when I have
an interest in what I am writing. Yet, when the subject matter is not captivating I do not put in
nearly as much effort as I would if my heart was in it. Writing

The first feedback I received from my peers was very crucial into the development in my final
essay. In my draft, I had two short essay. One about how dirt bike riding was important to me, and
the other on how someone who affected me wrongfully but developed me into the person I am
today. Out of five of my peers, they all chose the essay to do with my bullying. My peers thought
that the first two paragraphs on my essay needed to be taken out because it was lot of plot. They
wanted me to get straight to the point like I was in the third paragraph. They wanted me to make a
stronger thesis and install more imagery into the essay. My grammar needed improvement and so
did my vocabulary. They loved when I talked about how this experience shaped me today and how
it has helped me a better person overall. My peers noticed and really liked the fact that I mentioned
that I am happy with myself no matter what someone says about me. My instructor really liked the
story of the essay but really wanted me to be...show more content...
I thought this feedback was not helpful at all and very opinionated. I think that my story was
very good and it would look good in the eyes of colleges. One comment that was helpful was that I
should add a specific event. This helped me narrow my essay from a broader topic to a more
detailed one. The feedback I did use was to delete the paragraphs that did not explain the story or
were just boring and just get straight to the point like I did in the last paragraph. I also decided to
accept the feedback on adding a specific event that had in my life and how it really changed me. I
accepted the feedback on adding stronger words as well. I denied the comment or feedback on how
I should delete the essay and start fresh because I thought this story had a lot of potential, which it

11. My Experience In English Writing
English is a core concept in the Untied States and other countries that has allowed inviduals to
advance their knowledge. Not only does English provide an advancement in knowlege, but has
created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why
English is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in
America including mine. I began taking English from a young age which allowed me to take
advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English
IV allowed me to further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome
obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any other thing in life there
are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was
something that was very challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to
organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in my English class
was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write
about the experience I had while hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had
many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my thoughts, so that it
flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around
more then I should have and this became a problem. I learned

12. My Shortcomings
Sitting through English class and completing grammar worksheets since the age of five, never
really helped me reach academic success in the English department. After many, many nights of
trying to revise my essays to the point of perfection, I never fully understood. Never truly picking
up on the key to the phenomenal essay. I think my shortcomings came from the result of my
effort, which was minimal and just enough to slide by on the high school scale. The amount of
time and effort I put in was just enough to pass the class and graduate as an honors student.
However, once I committed to Virginia Tech, I soon realized that that cute little game wasn't
going to work anymore. Therefore, I set goals for myself, even before I knew that I was taking
this class. So, when you mentioned the goals memo, I knew exactly what my set goals would be. In
order to achieve greatness here at Tech, I would need to do a more than the minimum. Number one,
I would need to quit my awful habit of procrastinating. College is all about time management and
that's what I intend to do, manage my time, well. Secondly, I desire to improve my bland
vocabulary. I'd like to sound more intelligent when I speak and write. And lastly, I plan to break my
comfort zone academically, by participating in clubs and taking classes that challenge my existing
knowledge and allow me to learn new ideas.
I am an awful procrastinator, this semester I would like to challenge myself to manage my time
better and to complete

13. What I Learned From My Writing
Since the beginning of English 1100, I have created trends in my writing. My approach to writing,
point of view, and writing styles are similar in all of my papers. I have taken the skills I learned from
my previous experiences of writing and improved them in this class. My liberal ideas that have been
embedded in my writing since high school are shown and reflected in multiple projects that I've
completed. Many of my grammatical errors began to stick out and I have since learned how to
correct them. English 1100 has helped me to correct grammatical errors that I had never noticed
before and has ultimately allowed me to discover why I write a particular way. I have improved my
writing habits through this class and have been able to enhance my skills to the best of my ability.
A common trend among my papers has been my sentence structure. For the most part, my
sentences would be short and very straight forward. A common mistake that I see among many of
my peers is writing consciously, a problem I do not have. I like that I can get right to the point
which allowed me to be more direct in stating my facts and less worried about filling my paper with
fluff. By the end of the semester, I learned to make my sentences more balanced which would allow
me to have more flow throughout my paper. As the semester went on I started to pay closer attention
to the length and the content of each sentence and how each correlated with each other. I took a skill

At the beginning of this Writing Composition course, I hardly had any expectations besides the
excessive amount of essay assignments. Up until this course, I had only considered that this was
any other ordinary writing class. My experiences with writing classes and essays have not been a
fun one because I have always seen it as an annoying task. Recently, this narrow perception of mine
has gradually deteriorated because of my experience in this course. I have realized that writing isn't
just another assignment, but it is a place where one can express their opinions, emotions, and
experiences. This course has helped me develop my strengths like my development of thoughts and
organization skills while being able to acknowledge my weaknesses like having trouble stating two
positions and having biased opinions. Due to this recent realization, I have been able to get a better
insight of my writing skills and a new perspective of writing classes....show more content...

my english teachers liked my writing style and praised my writing skills but I never found out why
they did. I have always considered myself as a mediocre writer, but after taking this writing
composition course, I feel as though I have greatly developed my writing skills and have become

Therapy
Today many people seek professional therapy or counseling for a limited amount of time in order
to deal with different life crises. Others seek professional help for the majority of their lives in
order to deal with a psychological disorder. After reading this chapter on Therapy, I learned that this
was not always the case, and that the way our society views therapy, and the meaning of therapy, has
changed dramatically of the years. This chapter not only explains the evolution of therapy, it explores
the different therapeutic approaches.
I found chapter thirteen to be very interesting. Learning about the different types of therapy was very

Trephining was the most disturbing picture. I am still amazed that people thought that anything
whatsoever could be solved by chiseling away at a person's head. The picture of the skull was
extremely disturbing: I cannot even fathom how horrible it would have been to be a patient of such
practices. Also one would think that after the first gaping hole in a person's head with no results, the
chiseling would stop. However it is obvious by the number of holes in the skull that this was a
procedure that was tried multiple times on one patient. Other than the trephined skull, I also found it
unusual that bloodletting was such a common practice. It was particularly troubling to learn that it
was used for treating mania, which is something I have experienced.
All of the information on the different types of therapies has helped me to more fully understand
psychology. This chapter is dedicated to explaining the current methods of treating people with
psychological disorders in order to help them through a rough time in life. This chapter on therapy

I was born in a family that is very connected. My family would help each other in many ways
including help in homework, tests, quizzes, keeping the house in shape order and so on. The most
important thing in my life is my family. The reason why I value my family so much is because
they help me in my everyday life. My brother helps me with school, my sister helps me in writing
my essays, and my mother and father keep the house clean and stable. If I didn't have such a family, I
would not be the person I am today.
What I value the most in my life is my family. The reason why I value my family is because they
help me go through life, guiding me through life's challenges. For example, regarding school, my
older sister and my brother help teach me things that I didn't understand. For example, when I
began writing important pieces in ELA including essays, my sister laid out the basic outline for an
essay. Then my brother would check my essay for grammar mistakes, improper tense or sloppy
wording. My brother also helps me out in math and science. He recently began helping me out in
math and science as soon as I began Manhattan Village Academy. My brother would teach me
concepts in math that he is learning in geometry at school. These concepts would give me a better
understanding of the Geometry of Manhattan Village Academy. In addition, my twin brother is

I remember when I first came to the Wilkes University, one of my edifier (?) (Friend, teacher,
mother) told me "Don't judge your class in the beginning, judge your class at the end of course".
In the beginning of my classes I was very nervous about how to write an essay. However, I believe
my writing skills has effectively improved. To be honest, English 101 wasn't an easy class for me in
the beginning. College writing is entirely different from high school writing. I always have trouble
with grammar when I write English essays, and it's harder for me to learn and improve my skills in
a short amount of time.
I'm a young woman who transferred from China to America and I'm not that familiar with how to
utilize English compared to a young woman who's who is from the United States of America. That
has never stopped me from trying and I will never give up. I like challenges and difficult tasks, it
tests my will and helps to achieve the goal I have set for myself. During this sixteenth week, my
writing skill improved dramatically compared to the beginning of the semester. That may not be
noticeable to others, but to me the improvement in my writing skill is very evident.
This course has helped me to understand the difference between college and high school writing.
