Some people say global warming is caused by human activity, others say global warming doesn't
even exist. Some people claim that the climate is changing for the worse. They believe that humans
are the primary cause of these changes, especially the increase in temperature, caused by the burning
of fossil fuels. They believe that the temperature changes are causing glaciers to melt. They claim
that the melting of ice masses leads to a higher sea level and worsening conditions for Arctic
animals, as well as other negative effects on the environment. Others do not agree with this. They
say that the climate is not changing at all and that if it is, it is certainly not due to human behavior.
The term "global warming" refers to an abnormal, increasing average temperature of the planet. The
average temperature has fluctuated constantly throughout the whole time the Earth has existed, but
recently the climate has changed in ways it has not done earlier, as well as more rapidly than it
ever has before. The natural reasons for the climate to change are still occurring, but with an
addition of some thought to be caused by human activities. The primary cause behind the increasing
temperature is according to NASA large amount of greenhouse gases being released into the air
when fossil fuels are being burnt. The higher temperatures are said to cause for example melting
glaciers and increased coastal erosion. The melting of ice results in negative changes to the
ecosystem of the affected

Causes Of Global Warming Essay
The issue of global warming has become a hot topic issue in many different countries. Global
warming is defined as the average increase of the earth's surface temperature. This exceptional rise
in temperature is has caused numerous tragic events. Global warming is mainly caused by
greenhouse effect, which is natural and human outcome. In the recent years, global warming has
become a grave concern in the international level because of its increasing detrimental effect on our
planet. Many scientists are researching to find solutions to curb the harmful effects of global
warming. It is imperative for us to know about the causes, effects and solutions of global warming to
help fight against it individually. In this essay, we are going to examine the causes, effects and then
solutions of global warming.
Scientific researches from across the world have concluded that there are two main causes for
greenhouse effect which results in global warming. Firstly, global warming is caused by natural
causes, which can be categorized into external and internal causes. The factors that innately alters
atmospheric compositions are called external causes. It consists of the luminosity of the sun,
volcanic eruptions, and the changeability of the earth's orbit round the sun. For example, the supply
of sunlight reaching the Earth increases by 20 per cent and increase the temperature of the Earth as
an aftermath of the change in Earth's orbit. Another important natural cause to global warming is

Abstract There needs to be a reduction if not extinction with the increasing amounts of carbon
dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), per–fluorocarbons
(PFCs) and nitrous oxide into the atmosphere because it is directly affecting global warming. The
combustion of fossil fuels and greenhouse emissions mainly contribute to the increase of these gases.
The longer we go without solving this global problem the more conflicts we will have in the future.
Although global warming does make the earth warmer there is more to worry about than heating to
death. Major concerns revolve around effects on agriculture, water resources, ocean level and coastal
regions, and disease. Many scientists and...show more content...
There needs to be a reduction if not an extinction with the increasing amounts of anthropogenic
sources into the atmosphere because it is directly affecting global warming. The longer we go
without solving this global problem the more conflicts we will have in the future.
To understand more about how increasing amounts of anthropogenic gases are mixing into our
atmosphere is important to know their origin. The most common anthropogenic gas released into our
atmosphere is carbon dioxide. It comes from a variety of sources, but mostly the combustion of any
fossil fuel. "About three–quarters of anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide during the past
twenty years is due to fossil fuel burning" (Harf, 147). During combustion, carbon in hydrocarbons
is oxidized to carbon dioxide and released into the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is also released
when solid waste and wood are burned, and from greenhouse emissions. The exact destination of
carbon dioxide once released into the atmosphere is not well known, but the ocean absorbs some,
some is used for plant life as growth, and a lot of it remains permanently in the atmosphere. "In the
past century, atmospheric carbon dioxide has risen thirty percent. The concentrations of carbon
dioxide are now higher than at any time over the past 420,000 years" and likely during the past
twenty million years before carbon

CO2 Emissions have steadily increased since the industrial revolution. The world is now producing
too much CO2 and the planet cannot clean up after us humans. This leads to heat from the sun
getting trapped into our atmosphere, producing heat and pollution, known as Global Warming.
Everyday activities from humans are damaging the environment. Having both Natural Sources and
Human Sources of CO2 it becomes a very hard problem to solve and with unimaginable
consequences. There are many ways to reduce CO2 emissions in the planet, some which include
electric cars, solar, nuclear and hydropower energy. Although some people will claim that nuclear
energy will not work or question its safety, it has become a major alternative power supplier in the
world to help reduce the CO2 emissions that lead to global warming and potential extinction of life.
The industrial revolution happened for people to be able to mass produce products, bringing down
the price of labor and quickly produce their products to meet demand. Factories and mass production
machines were invented; running on coal, these machineries and factories started contaminating our
planet. Starting in the industrial revolution, society began adding greenhouse gases to the
atmosphere at a steadily increasing rate. Greenhouse gases have been proven to be the effect of
humans and the cause of climate change. The warming of the planet is because of these greenhouse
gases are getting trapped and warming the planet. Research

The Causes Of Global Warming
Global Warming
Global Warming is an important topic and it's something everyone needs to look into. It can cause
a lot of problems and damage. A decade ago, the idea of global warming probably wasn't much of a
concern. In this essay, the things that will be addressed are why global warming is important– the
evidence, what causes it and the effects of it, the impact how we can prevent it, and other
information on it. Global warming is the increase in temperature of earth's atmosphere. Earth's
climate has changed throughout history. Many different types of information have been collected
about our planet and the climate, it's also shown the signals of a changing climate. Global
temperature rise, warming oceans, shrinking ice sheets, decreased snow cover, rising sea level,
and much more has been shown as evidence for rapid climate change (NASA) The Earth's
atmosphere is like a greenhouse, as it stays relatively warm. Once it starts to cool down most of the
heat is released but some of the heat is trapped by greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. There a lot of
greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide in the air so the greenhouse effect keeps getting stronger Most
of the greenhouse gases are the result of burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and gasoline. We rely
heavily on burning fossils fuels, which we use to make electricity, and that's the largest source of
heat–trapping pollution. There is plenty of evidence to show that climate change and global
warming is a serious issue. A

The Causes of Global Warming Essay
Global warming is an issue that threatens the world, but is often overlooked. This problem is an
increase in the earth's temperature due to fossil fuels, industries, agricultural, and man–made causes.
This results in the release of greenhouse gases. As climate changes occur in our earth's atmosphere
buildup of greenhouse gases. There are many problems that are causing global warming, and if they
are not taken serious or at least prevented there are going to be some severe issues in the near
future. Global warming has been caused by the people of the world. Pollution is one of the biggest
problems caused by people. No one seems to realize is that by burning fossil fuels is one thing that
causes pollution. Fossil fuels are fuels...show more content...
Our modern car burning gasoline is responsible for about 33% of the emission in the U.S. With
our population growing at a rapid rate, the demand for more cars and consumer goods means that
we are increasing the use of fossil fuels for transportation and manufacturing. A recent poll of
twenty people, shows that 86% of the people think that it is a serious problem, 4% think it is not
an issue, but could not give a valid answer, 10% are undecided. Some people that don't believe in
global warming say that there's no scientific proof that the earth's temperature is rising. Those who
thought it is a major issue all had ideas on to if not stop global warming at least slow down the
process. Natural gas is an extremely important source of energy for reducing pollution and
maintaining a clean and healthy environment. As the cleanest of the fossil fuels, natural gas can be
used in many ways to help reduce the emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere. Burning natural
gas in the place of other fossil fuels emits fewer harmful pollutants into the atmosphere, and an
increased reliance on natural gas can potentially reduce the emission of many of these most harmful
pollutants. The use of natural gas to power both industrial boilers and processes and the generation
of electricity can significantly improve the emissions.
Hybrid cars have been out on the market for a couple of years now. They use a small gasoline
engine and high powered electric motor to drive the car.

The Causes And Effects Of Global Warming
Every year over 6 tons of carbon dioxide is released into earth's atmosphere.we are releasing the
one thing that may lead to our end on this world and the destruction of our future. By releasing all
of that carbon dioxide into the atmosphere we are the ones to blame for global warming. It's true
that there are more than one sources so we are not the only source of carbon dioxide. But we are the
main contributors to this deadly and harmful gas. Humans are to blame for global warming and we
must do something about it or we will destroy our world.
The rise in earth's surface temperature as a consequence of greenhouse effect is called Global
Warming. The greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and other pollutants absorb more heat from
the sun then it radiates back. This causes an increase in the intensity of heat in the atmosphere. The
thickening of earth atmosphere because of the presence of increased carbon dioxide and other
greenhouse gases is called greenhouse effect. In addition, greenhouse gases can cause the ozone
layer – a protective layer in the earth's atmosphere – to develop holes. This means that harmful rays
from the sun can penetrate our atmosphere more easily and scorch the earth. Future climate change
and associated impacts will differ from region to region around the globe. The effects include
increasing global temperatures, rising sea levels, changing precipitation, and expansion of deserts in
the subtropics. Warming is expected to be greater over land than

Global Warming : Causes And Effects
Global warming has become a massive problem throughout the world, and as the population grows
so do the effects of climate change. What people do not know is that it is the leading cause of the
earth's end and might be a minor cause of death in the far future. Global warming is one of the many
things that humans have caused that has no easy fix. Professors Charles Kennel, V. Ramanathan, and
David G. Victor at the University of California – San Diego say that "Greenhouse gas concentrations
are trending far off the path needed to avoid dangerous interference...nations are making little
progress...to cut their emissions" (398). The problem started back in 1800–1870 when the first
coalition revolutions started; the use of coal, railroads, and other productions increased greenhouse
gas emissions. This may have been the first cause of climate change and from here on it led to the
effects. Now, it has become so damaging that it needs to be solved. Solutions need to occur because
it causes a threat on the human race and is getting worse each year. The two solutions that will have
the finest possible outcomes are putting a tax on carbon and using energy efficient products. There
are many different causes of Global warming, and most of them are human induced, meaning that
humans cause the problem or make a problem that was already there worse. The main cause of
climate change is the emission of carbon dioxide in the earth's atmosphere; this has unfortunately

Global Warming
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go a whole winter without even seeing snow?
Well the way the atmosphere is heating up today you just might experience this kind of event in
the future I chose to do my cause and effect paper on global warming because I believe it has a
major impact on humans, not only today, but especially in the future. In this paper I am going to
explain the causes and the effects of global warming and how it will impact our lives in the long run.
Greenhouse gases are gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone, and play an
important roll in the earth's atmosphere. Without them it would really be cold, but that does not
seem to be the problem in today's life....show more content...
The plants not only absorb gases ones throughout the atmosphere, but the ones created by humans
too, such as fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are the gases released when making plastics and when
producing other types of fuels such as gasoline, kerosene, and diesel. When these gases are
released they clog up the atmosphere, which means other types of gases can not escape. This is
also another leading factor of the world heating up and also leads to be a cause of the major
flooding, all of which is an effect of global warming. The second most leading cause of global
warming is aerosols. "Aerosols are air born solid particles or liquid droplets" usually found in hair
spray cans or other types of continuous spray cans (Wikipedia). In these types of hair sprays there
are fossil fuels combusted to help release the sprays needed. These aerosols are not only in spray
cans but also volcanoes. In lava, that explodes out of volcanoes, sulfur is released. The sulfur
then rises to the atmosphere, which destroys it (Volcano Hazard Program). Not only does sulfur
rise, but also is absorbed by the ground which causes a natural. This is another leading cause of
the temperature rise going on now, and is a cause of global warming (warming of the atmosphere).
It has many effects such as air pollution that can cause many problems for people. These gases can
be poisonous, and deadly if often breathed in. I have a perfect example of global warming and how

Global Warming
Global warming is an increase in the temperature of the earth's weather. Global warming is also
known as the green house effect. Global warming is a very serious world issue. Most humans are
trying to do as much as they can to help stop global warming. Global warming has caused many
problems to the earth in addition to the humans that live here on the earth. A problem caused by
global warming is very hot summers. Some summers have had days that the temperature had
reached 30*C. Another Problem that global warming has caused is the melting of polar ice caps.
Global warming caused the polar ice caps to melt which will cause the ice to break free as well as
melt in the sea, sea levels all over the world will rise. Lastly,...show more content...
On days when it was too hot for the kids to go out their parents would tell them to stay inside the
house. When the kids have to stay inside the house the parents usually want it to stay quiet. So
the kids would probably sit on the computer, got to sleep otherwise watch TV. This affected the
kid's daily physical activity. To help stop global warming everyone should drive less take bikes, walk
or carpool whenever possible otherwise you could buy hybrid cars. On behalf of those who don't
know what carpooling is it is driving with someone to a place that you are both going to.
Second of all, global warming has caused the ozone layer to start to break. The ozone layer is a layer
that absorbs the rays of the sun. There is a very big hole in the ozone layer. The breaking of the
ozone layer has caused the suns rays to come down at the humans very sharp. The hole in the
ozone layer lets the UV enter the atmosphere; it can cause skin cancer, general cancer in addition
to many more diseases to humans. There's a list of things humans can do to help reduce global
warming including; plant a tree, carpool, take a shower instead of a bath, use less hot water, use
less hot water there is a lot more to this list.
Last but not least, global warming has caused the polar ice caps to melt. The melting of the polar ice
caps will cause the sea levels to rise all over the world. If the sea levels rise just a metre

Cause And Effects Of Global Warming
Global warming is an increase of Earth's temperature throughout a period of time. Global warming
is a disease that is one of the root causes of Earth's illness. This invisible change has a lot of drastic
effects on mankind, wildlife as well as nature. The reasons to these destructions are humans
themselves. There are some very obvious ways to tackle the situation. Many of the extraordinary
weather changes since the 1950's are recorded in the instrumental temperature record which stretches
out to the mid–19th Century while having thousands of years according to the Paleoclimate Proxy
Records [IPCC Climate]. Temperature across the whole world is predicted to change throughout this
century and continuing. The Earth's ability to tackle the emission of heat–trapping gases, as well as
the amount of gases released will predict the magnitude of global climate change [NASA].
Scientists are sure that global temperatures will continue to rise for decades to come, largely due
to greenhouse gases produced by human activities. 2.5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit of temperature rise
is predicted over the next century by a group of 1300 scientists of The Intergovernmental Panel of
Climate Change (IPCC) from the United States[IPCC]. Climate change will have different effects
on different regions depending on the adapting ability with time, of that region, said IPCC. A 1 to 3
degree Celsius increase in global temperature will have deadly consequences in some region and

Cause And Effects Of Global Warming
Global Warming is a huge issue that affects the people, environment and world. If it doesn't stop
now, results could end up disastrous. What exactly is global warming? Global warming calls
attention to the global temperature levels increasing which results to the change in the climate. It is
not until recently that people are recognizing the many affects the climate change has made on the
atmosphere. Luckily, it isn't too late to fix the issue but there is still a lot of work to do.
With the topic of global warming, there is a mixed belief on whether it is a scam or not within the
population. Those who disagree with the idea of global warming believe that the government use
this issue as a way to get money by citizens, and that the constant temperature changes are just
naturally part of the earth's cycle. (MacMillan, A. 2016) Doubters of global warming also believe
that humans are not what started the issue of climate change on Earth. They believe that the
revealed data by scientists was all a lie to concern and scare people. (MacMillan, A. 2016)
In evidence of global warming, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory has documented that in the last
650,000 years, there has been seven cycles of glacial advances and retreats. (Shaftel, H. 2017) It
has been estimated that the last ice age was about 7,000 years ago, which marks the beginning of
human civilization. (Shaftel, H. 2017) Due to the technology that our scientists have today, we can
see the picture of Earth and it's changing climates. The data used from this technology is used to
help reveal proof of changing climates in the Earth's atmosphere. (Kerr, R. 1989)
In the mid 19th–century, scientists found that carbon dioxide traps heat and categorized this gas
with a group of other gases that also traps heat emitted by the sun, called greenhouse gases. (Kerr R.
1989) Greenhouse gases consists of: carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and fluorinated gases.
The effects of these gases on the atmosphere are based on three main factors: how much, how long,
and how strong. (Benestad, R. 2017) It is found that larger discharges of a gas leads to higher
concentrations for a longer time in the atmosphere, which introduces the greenhouse effect. What
exactly is the

Droughts, lengthy hot spells, heavy downpours, floods, and other extreme weather events are
occurring more frequently and intensely every year. Around the world, research teams are
analyzing these trends, noting the changes in temperature, rainfall, ice mass, sea level, and many
other variables recorded by weather measuring devices. The trends are undeniable: the Earth is
getting warmer. Polar sea ice and glaciers are melting, the sea level is rising, and as the oceans
absorb more and more carbon dioxide, they are becoming measurably more acidic. Why is this
happening? What is the cause of all this global warming? Mostly consisting of water vapor, the
atmosphere is a natural layer blanketing the earth and creating what is known as the "greenhouse
effect." Normally protecting the planet from temperature extremes, when heat–trapping gasses
accumulate in the atmosphere this creates an unnatural "expansion" of the greenhouse effect. The
result is global warming.
As reported in the 2014 NCA, "Only with the inclusion of human influences can models reproduce
the observed temperature changes." Over approximately the past 100 years, the burning of fossil
fuels such as oil, gasoline, and coal has increased the concentration of carbon dioxide in Earth's
atmosphere. CO2 is the chemical result of the burning process which occurs when carbon is
introduced into oxygen. To a lesser degree,

Global warming, by definition, is the increasing average temperature on a global scale. Many
scientists agree that the primary cause of this phenomenon is the collection of various "greenhouse
gases" and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. These gases are said to come from the burning of
fossil fuels in order to produce electricity, which has been gradually but greatly increasing since
approximately 1750. For the most part, global warming, or climate change, is a universally accepted
truth – but for some reason, there is a large resistance to the legitimacy of it. As of the year 2016,
carbon dioxide in the atmosphere's concentration had reached a record high of 400 parts per
million. This is the highest it's been in the last three million years. Possibly coincidentally, that
same year had the hottest recorded temperatures of all time, with temperatures at an average of
1.78 Fahrenheit warmer than the average of the twentieth century's. 2016 was, again, record setting
for the third year in a row. Now, the planet's glaciers and polar ice sheets are melting due to this
warmer atmosphere. As a result, sea levels are rising notably. With this melting ice, dark water is
exposed, which absorbs more sunlight than it did previously as ice, which subsequently triggers a
cycle of heating and melting. Alongside the raising temperatures and sea level, comes more extreme
weather. Heat waves have become even more frequent worldwide than they ever have been, resulting
in an exponential

Cause And Effects Of Global Warming
"The amount of heat accumulating on Earth because of human emissions is roughly equivalent the
heat released by 400,000 Hiroshima bombs exploding around the world every day,"
(FactRetriever). The heat is a direct effect from global warming which is becoming more and more
relevant in today's societies. There are a number of effects due to the one major cause of global
warming, which is greenhouse emission, and those are: increased temperature, melting ice sheets,
rising sea levels, increased power of hurricanes due to acidic oceans and surface temperature, and
finally, air pollution which increases death rates globally. The quantity of greenhouse emissions in
the atmosphere is intensifying due to human activities that burn fossil fuels which in turn is
increasing the temperature on earth, causing the oceans to become acidic, and increasing the effects
of air pollution.
One of the first effects of global warming is the increasing of temperature on earth which could
reach five degrees Celsius by year 2100. Due to the increasing temperatures globally, "Accelerated
melting of ice sheets, permafrost, and glaciers causes average sea levels to rise,"
(whatsyourimpact). When sea levels start to rise, it can cause disastrous effects on coast lines and
destroy coastal cities. Which can lead to certain islands and smaller countries to end up underwater
due to increasing sea levels. Another example is the scientist's predictions about how the earth will
react in a hundred years due to

causes and effects of global warming are easy to understand, with substantial evidence, yet there are
still unanswered questions and reasoning as to why global warming is occurring. This essay is to

CO2 is the prime factor found in the atmosphere, it "enters the atmosphere through the burning of
fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, and coal), solid waste, trees and wood products, and also as a result of
other chemical reactions. Carbon dioxide is also removed from the atmosphere (or "sequestered")
when it is absorbed by plants as part of the biological carbon cycle" (EPA). CH4 is another major
contributor, which is "emitted during the production and transport of coal, natural gas, and oil.
Methane emissions also result from livestock and other agricultural practices and by the decay of
organic waste in municipal solid waste landfills" (EPA), which also provides the necessity of life,
by providing food. Although CH4 is used during agriculture and oil is used to initiate energy, when
ample or over use are being produce, it leads to negative effects or off set the natural balance of the
environment. In relation to agriculture, N20 is "emitted during agricultural and industrial activities,
as well as during combustion of fossil fuels and solid waste," (EPA) which is exported through all
organisms. Lastly, the main green house gas refers to Fluorinated Gases that make up multiple
chemical reactions, create holes in the atmosphere, and increase global temperatures.
In addition to global warming contributors, the EPA has also identified particulate matter or particle
pollution as another source for climate change. Particulate matter ranges in size and

Global Warming: Why the Earth's Temperature Has Dramatically Increased
For the past few decades, there has been controversy whether global warming actually exists. Is it
real or is it a hoax? According to NASA, "Effects that scientists had predicted in the past would
result from global climate change are now occurring: loss of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise and
longer, more intense heat waves" ("Global Climate"). The cause of these effects is the greenhouse
effect. According to National Geographic, "The "greenhouse effect" is the warming that happens
when certain gases in Earth's atmosphere trap heat" ("What Is"). An example of changing the natural
greenhouse is burning fossil fuels, which can result in global warming. So what are the
consequences, and are they really that bad? Global warming can lead to more droughts and heat
waves, stronger hurricanes, and rising sea levels.
In the last 150 years, the industrial activities that our modern civilization depends upon have
doubled the amount of carbon dioxide levels we put into the atmosphere ("Climate Change). The
result of the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere is a warmer earth. These warmer conditions
will lead to more or less precipitation, depending on the region. The increased rainfall can result in
flooding. In other regions, the increase in precipitation can also lead to longer, drier droughts.
Droughts in the Southwest of the U.S. are becoming more intense,

Global Warming : Causes And Effects
Global warming is already taking place. It stopped being a prediction. The temperature at the earth's
surface has averagely increased by around 0.60 C.Both the oceans and the air are warming. It is
believed that the greenhouses gases' concentrations in the atmosphere have increased dramatically
since the periods of pre–industrialization. This condition is caused by the activities of human beings
most especially through the burning of fossil fuels such as natural gas, oil, and coal (Wang &
Chameides 1). Deforestation is also another cause. This essay will discuss what global warming is,
its causes and effects.
Global warming is the rise in the mean temperature of the earth's surface because of the effects of the
greenhouse gases. The carbon dioxide emitted from deforestation and the burning of fossil fuels.
These activities trap the heat, which is supposed to escape from the earth. Water vapor is the most
significant gas, which is emitted by greenhouses. The greenhouse gases' concentration is lesser than
the concentration of other gases like oxygen and nitrogen, which are the most significant gases in the
atmosphere. However, both oxygen and nitrogen are not greenhouse gas. None of them has atoms
above two in their molecular composition. Therefore, they do not have the modes of internal
vibration which are present in gases which consist of more than two atoms. Carbon dioxide and
water have the modes, which absorb and emit infrared radiation, which in

Causes of Global Warming
Have you ever thought of what is the cause to global warming? Some people still happen to
believe that global warming is a made up story, which is preventing humans from advancing. While
others might believe that global warming is realistic and is a man made problem. Global warming
is sooner or later going to impact you in a major way that can even change your life style. We the
people need to understand that global warming can result in harmful consequences to the earth that
one cannot even imagine. There are many ways to help stop the spread of global warming.
Global warming is hurting the world, which we live in, and it can result in decrease amount of
population after a long period of time.Global warming happens to be really harmful and will
affect the people if no effort is placed to prevent it. Global warming is the rise of the surface
temperature due to the different types of gases given out due to human activity. There are many
different ways global warming occurs. The major way global warming occurs is due to the gases
that hurt the ozone layer such as carbon dioxide and air pollution. These gases are narrowing the
ozone layer, which is allowing more heat than needed to enter the earth's atmosphere. But there are
also other reasons that cause global warming such as the cars, cows and even the factories. All these

As Robert Frost once said, " Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice. From what I've
tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire." This excerpt can relate to the idea of global
warming. Global warming can be defined as an increase in the earth's average atmospheric
temperature that causes corresponding changes in climate and that may result from the greenhouse
effect. During the past 10,000 years the earth has been in an ever–growing cycle that has significantly
changed the climate. These changes are becoming more prevalent in our world today in the past 150
years. Scientists have been analyzing the causes and effects of the greenhouse effect and many other
issues that global warming has presented. As John Houghton...show more content...
Aerosols have two major effects on the climate. They include direct and indirect radiation. " The
cooling or warming of the atmosphere due to the reflective or absorbent properties of the
particles are considered direct effects. Reflective particles cool the atmosphere by scattering
energy from the sun back into space. Absorbent particles have the opposite effect. They add to
atmospheric heating by absorbing the sun's energy." (Calipso Outreach) An indirect effect of
aerosols is their roles on cloud condensation nuclei, CCN. The use of aerosols has a huge
relationship with the amount of CCN present in a cloud. Clouds with more CCN, from the higher
use of aerosols, are larger and more reflective than those with fewer CCN (Calipso Outreach). Since
the clouds are more reflective, light is being trapped in the earth's atmosphere. Ultimately creating
the earths temperature to rise. In Calipso Outreach they explain, " The particles pushed into the
atmosphere from a dust storm are made of minerals with both reflective and absorbent properties.
The ability of the particles to absorb sunlight is thought to have a net warming effect on area of the
atmosphere they occupy." The particles from the dust storm get trapped up in the earth's atmosphere,
creating almost a mirror for sunlight to be reflected by. With the more sunlight being reflected, the
hotter the temperature will be on Earth. Aerosols are a huge cause of global

Cause And Effect Of Global Warming Essay

  • 1. Some people say global warming is caused by human activity, others say global warming doesn't even exist. Some people claim that the climate is changing for the worse. They believe that humans are the primary cause of these changes, especially the increase in temperature, caused by the burning of fossil fuels. They believe that the temperature changes are causing glaciers to melt. They claim that the melting of ice masses leads to a higher sea level and worsening conditions for Arctic animals, as well as other negative effects on the environment. Others do not agree with this. They say that the climate is not changing at all and that if it is, it is certainly not due to human behavior. The term "global warming" refers to an abnormal, increasing average temperature of the planet. The average temperature has fluctuated constantly throughout the whole time the Earth has existed, but recently the climate has changed in ways it has not done earlier, as well as more rapidly than it ever has before. The natural reasons for the climate to change are still occurring, but with an addition of some thought to be caused by human activities. The primary cause behind the increasing temperature is according to NASA large amount of greenhouse gases being released into the air when fossil fuels are being burnt. The higher temperatures are said to cause for example melting glaciers and increased coastal erosion. The melting of ice results in negative changes to the ecosystem of the affected Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Causes Of Global Warming Essay The issue of global warming has become a hot topic issue in many different countries. Global warming is defined as the average increase of the earth's surface temperature. This exceptional rise in temperature is has caused numerous tragic events. Global warming is mainly caused by greenhouse effect, which is natural and human outcome. In the recent years, global warming has become a grave concern in the international level because of its increasing detrimental effect on our planet. Many scientists are researching to find solutions to curb the harmful effects of global warming. It is imperative for us to know about the causes, effects and solutions of global warming to help fight against it individually. In this essay, we are going to examine the causes, effects and then solutions of global warming. Scientific researches from across the world have concluded that there are two main causes for greenhouse effect which results in global warming. Firstly, global warming is caused by natural causes, which can be categorized into external and internal causes. The factors that innately alters atmospheric compositions are called external causes. It consists of the luminosity of the sun, volcanic eruptions, and the changeability of the earth's orbit round the sun. For example, the supply of sunlight reaching the Earth increases by 20 per cent and increase the temperature of the Earth as an aftermath of the change in Earth's orbit. Another important natural cause to global warming is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Abstract There needs to be a reduction if not extinction with the increasing amounts of carbon dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), per–fluorocarbons (PFCs) and nitrous oxide into the atmosphere because it is directly affecting global warming. The combustion of fossil fuels and greenhouse emissions mainly contribute to the increase of these gases. The longer we go without solving this global problem the more conflicts we will have in the future. Although global warming does make the earth warmer there is more to worry about than heating to death. Major concerns revolve around effects on agriculture, water resources, ocean level and coastal regions, and disease. Many scientists and...show more content... There needs to be a reduction if not an extinction with the increasing amounts of anthropogenic sources into the atmosphere because it is directly affecting global warming. The longer we go without solving this global problem the more conflicts we will have in the future. To understand more about how increasing amounts of anthropogenic gases are mixing into our atmosphere is important to know their origin. The most common anthropogenic gas released into our atmosphere is carbon dioxide. It comes from a variety of sources, but mostly the combustion of any fossil fuel. "About three–quarters of anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide during the past twenty years is due to fossil fuel burning" (Harf, 147). During combustion, carbon in hydrocarbons is oxidized to carbon dioxide and released into the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is also released when solid waste and wood are burned, and from greenhouse emissions. The exact destination of carbon dioxide once released into the atmosphere is not well known, but the ocean absorbs some, some is used for plant life as growth, and a lot of it remains permanently in the atmosphere. "In the past century, atmospheric carbon dioxide has risen thirty percent. The concentrations of carbon dioxide are now higher than at any time over the past 420,000 years" and likely during the past twenty million years before carbon Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Causes And Effects Of Global Warming CO2 Emissions have steadily increased since the industrial revolution. The world is now producing too much CO2 and the planet cannot clean up after us humans. This leads to heat from the sun getting trapped into our atmosphere, producing heat and pollution, known as Global Warming. Everyday activities from humans are damaging the environment. Having both Natural Sources and Human Sources of CO2 it becomes a very hard problem to solve and with unimaginable consequences. There are many ways to reduce CO2 emissions in the planet, some which include electric cars, solar, nuclear and hydropower energy. Although some people will claim that nuclear energy will not work or question its safety, it has become a major alternative power supplier in the world to help reduce the CO2 emissions that lead to global warming and potential extinction of life. The industrial revolution happened for people to be able to mass produce products, bringing down the price of labor and quickly produce their products to meet demand. Factories and mass production machines were invented; running on coal, these machineries and factories started contaminating our planet. Starting in the industrial revolution, society began adding greenhouse gases to the atmosphere at a steadily increasing rate. Greenhouse gases have been proven to be the effect of humans and the cause of climate change. The warming of the planet is because of these greenhouse gases are getting trapped and warming the planet. Research Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. The Causes Of Global Warming Global Warming Global Warming is an important topic and it's something everyone needs to look into. It can cause a lot of problems and damage. A decade ago, the idea of global warming probably wasn't much of a concern. In this essay, the things that will be addressed are why global warming is important– the evidence, what causes it and the effects of it, the impact how we can prevent it, and other information on it. Global warming is the increase in temperature of earth's atmosphere. Earth's climate has changed throughout history. Many different types of information have been collected about our planet and the climate, it's also shown the signals of a changing climate. Global temperature rise, warming oceans, shrinking ice sheets, decreased snow cover, rising sea level, and much more has been shown as evidence for rapid climate change (NASA) The Earth's atmosphere is like a greenhouse, as it stays relatively warm. Once it starts to cool down most of the heat is released but some of the heat is trapped by greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. There a lot of greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide in the air so the greenhouse effect keeps getting stronger Most of the greenhouse gases are the result of burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and gasoline. We rely heavily on burning fossils fuels, which we use to make electricity, and that's the largest source of heat–trapping pollution. There is plenty of evidence to show that climate change and global warming is a serious issue. A Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. The Causes of Global Warming Essay Global warming is an issue that threatens the world, but is often overlooked. This problem is an increase in the earth's temperature due to fossil fuels, industries, agricultural, and man–made causes. This results in the release of greenhouse gases. As climate changes occur in our earth's atmosphere buildup of greenhouse gases. There are many problems that are causing global warming, and if they are not taken serious or at least prevented there are going to be some severe issues in the near future. Global warming has been caused by the people of the world. Pollution is one of the biggest problems caused by people. No one seems to realize is that by burning fossil fuels is one thing that causes pollution. Fossil fuels are fuels...show more content... Our modern car burning gasoline is responsible for about 33% of the emission in the U.S. With our population growing at a rapid rate, the demand for more cars and consumer goods means that we are increasing the use of fossil fuels for transportation and manufacturing. A recent poll of twenty people, shows that 86% of the people think that it is a serious problem, 4% think it is not an issue, but could not give a valid answer, 10% are undecided. Some people that don't believe in global warming say that there's no scientific proof that the earth's temperature is rising. Those who thought it is a major issue all had ideas on to if not stop global warming at least slow down the process. Natural gas is an extremely important source of energy for reducing pollution and maintaining a clean and healthy environment. As the cleanest of the fossil fuels, natural gas can be used in many ways to help reduce the emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere. Burning natural gas in the place of other fossil fuels emits fewer harmful pollutants into the atmosphere, and an increased reliance on natural gas can potentially reduce the emission of many of these most harmful pollutants. The use of natural gas to power both industrial boilers and processes and the generation of electricity can significantly improve the emissions. Hybrid cars have been out on the market for a couple of years now. They use a small gasoline engine and high powered electric motor to drive the car. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. The Causes And Effects Of Global Warming Every year over 6 tons of carbon dioxide is released into earth's atmosphere.we are releasing the one thing that may lead to our end on this world and the destruction of our future. By releasing all of that carbon dioxide into the atmosphere we are the ones to blame for global warming. It's true that there are more than one sources so we are not the only source of carbon dioxide. But we are the main contributors to this deadly and harmful gas. Humans are to blame for global warming and we must do something about it or we will destroy our world. The rise in earth's surface temperature as a consequence of greenhouse effect is called Global Warming. The greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and other pollutants absorb more heat from the sun then it radiates back. This causes an increase in the intensity of heat in the atmosphere. The thickening of earth atmosphere because of the presence of increased carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases is called greenhouse effect. In addition, greenhouse gases can cause the ozone layer – a protective layer in the earth's atmosphere – to develop holes. This means that harmful rays from the sun can penetrate our atmosphere more easily and scorch the earth. Future climate change and associated impacts will differ from region to region around the globe. The effects include increasing global temperatures, rising sea levels, changing precipitation, and expansion of deserts in the subtropics. Warming is expected to be greater over land than Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Global Warming : Causes And Effects Global warming has become a massive problem throughout the world, and as the population grows so do the effects of climate change. What people do not know is that it is the leading cause of the earth's end and might be a minor cause of death in the far future. Global warming is one of the many things that humans have caused that has no easy fix. Professors Charles Kennel, V. Ramanathan, and David G. Victor at the University of California – San Diego say that "Greenhouse gas concentrations are trending far off the path needed to avoid dangerous interference...nations are making little progress...to cut their emissions" (398). The problem started back in 1800–1870 when the first coalition revolutions started; the use of coal, railroads, and other productions increased greenhouse gas emissions. This may have been the first cause of climate change and from here on it led to the effects. Now, it has become so damaging that it needs to be solved. Solutions need to occur because it causes a threat on the human race and is getting worse each year. The two solutions that will have the finest possible outcomes are putting a tax on carbon and using energy efficient products. There are many different causes of Global warming, and most of them are human induced, meaning that humans cause the problem or make a problem that was already there worse. The main cause of climate change is the emission of carbon dioxide in the earth's atmosphere; this has unfortunately pushed into the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay on Global Warming; Cause and Effect Global Warming Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go a whole winter without even seeing snow? Well the way the atmosphere is heating up today you just might experience this kind of event in the future I chose to do my cause and effect paper on global warming because I believe it has a major impact on humans, not only today, but especially in the future. In this paper I am going to explain the causes and the effects of global warming and how it will impact our lives in the long run. Greenhouse gases are gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone, and play an important roll in the earth's atmosphere. Without them it would really be cold, but that does not seem to be the problem in today's life....show more content... The plants not only absorb gases ones throughout the atmosphere, but the ones created by humans too, such as fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are the gases released when making plastics and when producing other types of fuels such as gasoline, kerosene, and diesel. When these gases are released they clog up the atmosphere, which means other types of gases can not escape. This is also another leading factor of the world heating up and also leads to be a cause of the major flooding, all of which is an effect of global warming. The second most leading cause of global warming is aerosols. "Aerosols are air born solid particles or liquid droplets" usually found in hair spray cans or other types of continuous spray cans (Wikipedia). In these types of hair sprays there are fossil fuels combusted to help release the sprays needed. These aerosols are not only in spray cans but also volcanoes. In lava, that explodes out of volcanoes, sulfur is released. The sulfur then rises to the atmosphere, which destroys it (Volcano Hazard Program). Not only does sulfur rise, but also is absorbed by the ground which causes a natural. This is another leading cause of the temperature rise going on now, and is a cause of global warming (warming of the atmosphere). It has many effects such as air pollution that can cause many problems for people. These gases can be poisonous, and deadly if often breathed in. I have a perfect example of global warming and how it effects Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Essay on Effects of Global Warming Global Warming Global warming is an increase in the temperature of the earth's weather. Global warming is also known as the green house effect. Global warming is a very serious world issue. Most humans are trying to do as much as they can to help stop global warming. Global warming has caused many problems to the earth in addition to the humans that live here on the earth. A problem caused by global warming is very hot summers. Some summers have had days that the temperature had reached 30*C. Another Problem that global warming has caused is the melting of polar ice caps. Global warming caused the polar ice caps to melt which will cause the ice to break free as well as melt in the sea, sea levels all over the world will rise. Lastly,...show more content... On days when it was too hot for the kids to go out their parents would tell them to stay inside the house. When the kids have to stay inside the house the parents usually want it to stay quiet. So the kids would probably sit on the computer, got to sleep otherwise watch TV. This affected the kid's daily physical activity. To help stop global warming everyone should drive less take bikes, walk or carpool whenever possible otherwise you could buy hybrid cars. On behalf of those who don't know what carpooling is it is driving with someone to a place that you are both going to. Second of all, global warming has caused the ozone layer to start to break. The ozone layer is a layer that absorbs the rays of the sun. There is a very big hole in the ozone layer. The breaking of the ozone layer has caused the suns rays to come down at the humans very sharp. The hole in the ozone layer lets the UV enter the atmosphere; it can cause skin cancer, general cancer in addition to many more diseases to humans. There's a list of things humans can do to help reduce global warming including; plant a tree, carpool, take a shower instead of a bath, use less hot water, use less hot water there is a lot more to this list. Last but not least, global warming has caused the polar ice caps to melt. The melting of the polar ice caps will cause the sea levels to rise all over the world. If the sea levels rise just a metre Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Cause And Effects Of Global Warming Global warming is an increase of Earth's temperature throughout a period of time. Global warming is a disease that is one of the root causes of Earth's illness. This invisible change has a lot of drastic effects on mankind, wildlife as well as nature. The reasons to these destructions are humans themselves. There are some very obvious ways to tackle the situation. Many of the extraordinary weather changes since the 1950's are recorded in the instrumental temperature record which stretches out to the mid–19th Century while having thousands of years according to the Paleoclimate Proxy Records [IPCC Climate]. Temperature across the whole world is predicted to change throughout this century and continuing. The Earth's ability to tackle the emission of heat–trapping gases, as well as the amount of gases released will predict the magnitude of global climate change [NASA]. Scientists are sure that global temperatures will continue to rise for decades to come, largely due to greenhouse gases produced by human activities. 2.5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit of temperature rise is predicted over the next century by a group of 1300 scientists of The Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change (IPCC) from the United States[IPCC]. Climate change will have different effects on different regions depending on the adapting ability with time, of that region, said IPCC. A 1 to 3 degree Celsius increase in global temperature will have deadly consequences in some region and propitious Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Cause And Effects Of Global Warming Global Warming is a huge issue that affects the people, environment and world. If it doesn't stop now, results could end up disastrous. What exactly is global warming? Global warming calls attention to the global temperature levels increasing which results to the change in the climate. It is not until recently that people are recognizing the many affects the climate change has made on the atmosphere. Luckily, it isn't too late to fix the issue but there is still a lot of work to do. With the topic of global warming, there is a mixed belief on whether it is a scam or not within the population. Those who disagree with the idea of global warming believe that the government use this issue as a way to get money by citizens, and that the constant temperature changes are just naturally part of the earth's cycle. (MacMillan, A. 2016) Doubters of global warming also believe that humans are not what started the issue of climate change on Earth. They believe that the revealed data by scientists was all a lie to concern and scare people. (MacMillan, A. 2016) In evidence of global warming, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory has documented that in the last 650,000 years, there has been seven cycles of glacial advances and retreats. (Shaftel, H. 2017) It has been estimated that the last ice age was about 7,000 years ago, which marks the beginning of human civilization. (Shaftel, H. 2017) Due to the technology that our scientists have today, we can see the picture of Earth and it's changing climates. The data used from this technology is used to help reveal proof of changing climates in the Earth's atmosphere. (Kerr, R. 1989) In the mid 19th–century, scientists found that carbon dioxide traps heat and categorized this gas with a group of other gases that also traps heat emitted by the sun, called greenhouse gases. (Kerr R. 1989) Greenhouse gases consists of: carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and fluorinated gases. The effects of these gases on the atmosphere are based on three main factors: how much, how long, and how strong. (Benestad, R. 2017) It is found that larger discharges of a gas leads to higher concentrations for a longer time in the atmosphere, which introduces the greenhouse effect. • 13. Global Warming : Cause And Effect Global warming (Cause/Effect) Jimareo Kimmons Comp I Dr. Sarthou 10/30/2015 Droughts, lengthy hot spells, heavy downpours, floods, and other extreme weather events are occurring more frequently and intensely every year. Around the world, research teams are analyzing these trends, noting the changes in temperature, rainfall, ice mass, sea level, and many other variables recorded by weather measuring devices. The trends are undeniable: the Earth is getting warmer. Polar sea ice and glaciers are melting, the sea level is rising, and as the oceans absorb more and more carbon dioxide, they are becoming measurably more acidic. Why is this happening? What is the cause of all this global warming? Mostly consisting of water vapor, the atmosphere is a natural layer blanketing the earth and creating what is known as the "greenhouse effect." Normally protecting the planet from temperature extremes, when heat–trapping gasses accumulate in the atmosphere this creates an unnatural "expansion" of the greenhouse effect. The result is global warming. As reported in the 2014 NCA, "Only with the inclusion of human influences can models reproduce the observed temperature changes." Over approximately the past 100 years, the burning of fossil fuels such as oil, gasoline, and coal has increased the concentration of carbon dioxide in Earth's atmosphere. Many scientists agree that the primary cause of this phenomenon is the collection of various "greenhouse gases" and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. These gases are said to come from the burning of fossil fuels in order to produce electricity, which has been gradually but greatly increasing since approximately 1750. For the most part, global warming, or climate change, is a universally accepted truth – but for some reason, there is a large resistance to the legitimacy of it. As of the year 2016, carbon dioxide in the atmosphere's concentration had reached a record high of 400 parts per million. This is the highest it's been in the last three million years. Possibly coincidentally, that same year had the hottest recorded temperatures of all time, with temperatures at an average of 1.78 Fahrenheit warmer than the average of the twentieth century's. 2016 was, again, record setting for the third year in a row. Now, the planet's glaciers and polar ice sheets are melting due to this warmer atmosphere. As a result, sea levels are rising notably. With this melting ice, dark water is exposed, which absorbs more sunlight than it did previously as ice, which subsequently triggers a cycle of heating and melting. Alongside the raising temperatures and sea level, comes more extreme weather. Heat waves have become even more frequent worldwide than they ever have been, resulting in an exponential Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Cause And Effects Of Global Warming "The amount of heat accumulating on Earth because of human emissions is roughly equivalent the heat released by 400,000 Hiroshima bombs exploding around the world every day," (FactRetriever). The heat is a direct effect from global warming which is becoming more and more relevant in today's societies. There are a number of effects due to the one major cause of global warming, which is greenhouse emission, and those are: increased temperature, melting ice sheets, rising sea levels, increased power of hurricanes due to acidic oceans and surface temperature, and finally, air pollution which increases death rates globally. The quantity of greenhouse emissions in the atmosphere is intensifying due to human activities that burn fossil fuels which in turn is increasing the temperature on earth, causing the oceans to become acidic, and increasing the effects of air pollution. One of the first effects of global warming is the increasing of temperature on earth which could reach five degrees Celsius by year 2100. Due to the increasing temperatures globally, "Accelerated melting of ice sheets, permafrost, and glaciers causes average sea levels to rise," (whatsyourimpact). When sea levels start to rise, it can cause disastrous effects on coast lines and destroy coastal cities. Which can lead to certain islands and smaller countries to end up underwater due to increasing sea levels. Another example is the scientist's predictions about how the earth will react in a hundred years due to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. The Pros And Cons Of Global Warming Global Warming is a universal concern that has gained worldwide attention. As members of Congress, we have heard and learned new and different facts about the process of Earth. Some causes and effects of global warming are easy to understand, with substantial evidence, yet there are still unanswered questions and reasoning as to why global warming is occurring. This essay is to outline the background of global warming and to display opposing viewpoints. Since there is not enough evidential research to connect global warming with natural factors, human activity, and its impacts, we might take advantage of its beneficial gain to our environment, economic, and social system. The facts and fictions of global warming will convince members of...show more content... CO2 is the prime factor found in the atmosphere, it "enters the atmosphere through the burning of fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, and coal), solid waste, trees and wood products, and also as a result of other chemical reactions. Carbon dioxide is also removed from the atmosphere (or "sequestered") when it is absorbed by plants as part of the biological carbon cycle" (EPA). CH4 is another major contributor, which is "emitted during the production and transport of coal, natural gas, and oil. Methane emissions also result from livestock and other agricultural practices and by the decay of organic waste in municipal solid waste landfills" (EPA), which also provides the necessity of life, by providing food. Although CH4 is used during agriculture and oil is used to initiate energy, when ample or over use are being produce, it leads to negative effects or off set the natural balance of the environment. In relation to agriculture, N20 is "emitted during agricultural and industrial activities, as well as during combustion of fossil fuels and solid waste," (EPA) which is exported through all organisms. Lastly, the main green house gas refers to Fluorinated Gases that make up multiple chemical reactions, create holes in the atmosphere, and increase global temperatures. In addition to global warming contributors, the EPA has also identified particulate matter or particle pollution as another source for climate change. • 17. The Cause And Effects Of Global Warming Amanda Winkjer Timms Section 115 26 October 2017 Global Warming: Why the Earth's Temperature Has Dramatically Increased For the past few decades, there has been controversy whether global warming actually exists. Is it real or is it a hoax? According to NASA, "Effects that scientists had predicted in the past would result from global climate change are now occurring: loss of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise and longer, more intense heat waves" ("Global Climate"). The cause of these effects is the greenhouse effect. According to National Geographic, "The "greenhouse effect" is the warming that happens when certain gases in Earth's atmosphere trap heat" ("What Is"). An example of changing the natural greenhouse is burning fossil fuels, which can result in global warming. So what are the consequences, and are they really that bad? Global warming can lead to more droughts and heat waves, stronger hurricanes, and rising sea levels. In the last 150 years, the industrial activities that our modern civilization depends upon have doubled the amount of carbon dioxide levels we put into the atmosphere ("Climate Change). The result of the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere is a warmer earth. These warmer conditions will lead to more or less precipitation, depending on the region. The increased rainfall can result in flooding. In other regions, the increase in precipitation can also lead to longer, drier droughts. Droughts in the Southwest of the U.S. are becoming more intense, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Global Warming : Causes And Effects Global warming is already taking place. It stopped being a prediction. The temperature at the earth's surface has averagely increased by around 0.60 C.Both the oceans and the air are warming. It is believed that the greenhouses gases' concentrations in the atmosphere have increased dramatically since the periods of pre–industrialization. This condition is caused by the activities of human beings most especially through the burning of fossil fuels such as natural gas, oil, and coal (Wang & Chameides 1). Deforestation is also another cause. This essay will discuss what global warming is, its causes and effects. Global warming is the rise in the mean temperature of the earth's surface because of the effects of the greenhouse gases. The carbon dioxide emitted from deforestation and the burning of fossil fuels. These activities trap the heat, which is supposed to escape from the earth. Water vapor is the most significant gas, which is emitted by greenhouses. The greenhouse gases' concentration is lesser than the concentration of other gases like oxygen and nitrogen, which are the most significant gases in the atmosphere. However, both oxygen and nitrogen are not greenhouse gas. None of them has atoms above two in their molecular composition. Therefore, they do not have the modes of internal vibration which are present in gases which consist of more than two atoms. Carbon dioxide and water have the modes, which absorb and emit infrared radiation, which in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Causes of Global Warming Have you ever thought of what is the cause to global warming? Some people still happen to believe that global warming is a made up story, which is preventing humans from advancing. While others might believe that global warming is realistic and is a man made problem. Global warming is sooner or later going to impact you in a major way that can even change your life style. We the people need to understand that global warming can result in harmful consequences to the earth that one cannot even imagine. There are many ways to help stop the spread of global warming. Global warming is hurting the world, which we live in, and it can result in decrease amount of population after a long period of time.Global warming happens to be really harmful and will affect the people if no effort is placed to prevent it. Global warming is the rise of the surface temperature due to the different types of gases given out due to human activity. There are many different ways global warming occurs. The major way global warming occurs is due to the gases that hurt the ozone layer such as carbon dioxide and air pollution. These gases are narrowing the ozone layer, which is allowing more heat than needed to enter the earth's atmosphere. But there are also other reasons that cause global warming such as the cars, cows and even the factories. All these living or non–living creatures stated let out certain gases that are extremely hazardous to the environment The effects of the global warming can harm Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Causes and Effects of Global Warming Essay As Robert Frost once said, " Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire." This excerpt can relate to the idea of global warming. Global warming can be defined as an increase in the earth's average atmospheric temperature that causes corresponding changes in climate and that may result from the greenhouse effect. During the past 10,000 years the earth has been in an ever–growing cycle that has significantly changed the climate. These changes are becoming more prevalent in our world today in the past 150 years. Scientists have been analyzing the causes and effects of the greenhouse effect and many other issues that global warming has presented. As John Houghton...show more content... Aerosols have two major effects on the climate. They include direct and indirect radiation. " The cooling or warming of the atmosphere due to the reflective or absorbent properties of the particles are considered direct effects. Reflective particles cool the atmosphere by scattering energy from the sun back into space. Absorbent particles have the opposite effect. They add to atmospheric heating by absorbing the sun's energy." (Calipso Outreach) An indirect effect of aerosols is their roles on cloud condensation nuclei, CCN. The use of aerosols has a huge relationship with the amount of CCN present in a cloud. Clouds with more CCN, from the higher use of aerosols, are larger and more reflective than those with fewer CCN (Calipso Outreach). Since the clouds are more reflective, light is being trapped in the earth's atmosphere. Ultimately creating the earths temperature to rise. In Calipso Outreach they explain, " The particles pushed into the atmosphere from a dust storm are made of minerals with both reflective and absorbent properties. The ability of the particles to absorb sunlight is thought to have a net warming effect on area of the atmosphere they occupy." The particles from the dust storm get trapped up in the earth's atmosphere, creating almost a mirror for sunlight to be reflected by. With the more sunlight being reflected, the hotter the temperature will be on Earth. Aerosols are a huge cause of global Get more content on HelpWriting.net
