U.S president history: question:   If you had been an American living in the 1910s, do you think that you would have supported or opposed America’s entry into World War I? Unfortunately, the sinking of the British passenger ship "Lusitania" was the most famous vessel for being targeted in this type of warfare. Only 891 out of 1,198 passengers survived the horror. As well as the Zimmerman note being intercepted, stating that if America declared war on Germany, Mexico ally with Germany and in return, Germany would assist in restoring lost territory to Mexico lost during the 1840's such as New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, and California. Even three U.S. ships were sunk by German submarines in mid March of  1917. The U.S had more supplies, weapons, and soldiers than Germany had. The United States aiding the British and French would be a key element in crushing the German forces.  rf 2.  I think that if I had been an American living in the 1910s I would have supported America;s entry into World War I. The main reason for that is due to the German's decision to reinstate the policy of unrestricted submarine warfare. There was also the fact that Germany decided to form an alliance with Mexico. Germany later ended up sinking an American ship, the "William P. Frye,' a private American vessel." (This Day in History) After this event occurred the President, Woodrow Wilson was infuriated. After this horrific event, there were other attacks on unarmed merchant ships and Germany continued to apologize, and claimed that it would not occur again. After several times of this occurring American's started to turn against Germany. After Germany sunk four more American ships, "President Wilson appeared before Congress and called for a declaration of war against Germany." (This Day in History) I think at this point it was almost as if Wilson and all of America had given Germany one too many chances to redeem themselves and put an end to the unnecessary destruction of American merchant ships, it was as if there was no other option left. Had Germany put an end to this, America's entry into WWI would have been unjustified, but if you review the events leading up to their entry into the war, it is understandable and I think the only option that America had left. ...
