9.  Socio is a Latin word, which means the study of society
 Sociology is the academic study of social behaviour, including its origins, development,
organization, and institutions. It is a social science that uses various methods of empirical
investigation and critical analysis to develop a body of knowledge about social order, social
disorder and social change.
 Sociology is the scientific study of human society and social interaction.

11.  ECONOMICS is the he branch of knowledge concerned with the production, consumption, and
transfer of wealth.
 Economics is the social science that analysis the production, distribution of goods and services. By
the this factor we come to know how to product a thing, how to distribute and how to expend the
things.

12. Development of sociology
Sociology emerged as a separate field of study in Europe during the
nineteenth century .
There are following main reason which produce new social problems and to
solve that problems, sociology emerged as a separate field of study.
Factory cities began to replace rural estates.
People of different background brought together under the same
factory roof.
Families now had to pay rent for their homes.
They had to buy food rather than grow it.
They had to protect themselves.

14. Auguste Comte (1798-1857)
Auguste comte coined the term sociology.
He wanted to develop a “science of man” that would
reveal the underlying principles of society much as
the sciences of physics and chemistry explained
nature and guided industrial progress.
He was a French philosopher.
He wrote many books

17. Henri saint-simon (1760-1825)
In August 1817, AUGUSTE COMTE met Henri saint-simon and
became his secretary and eventually his close collaborator.
Under saint simon’s influence, Comte converted from an ardent
advocate of liberty and equality to a supporter of an elitist conception
of society.

18. Effects on Planning:
By the Study Of SOCIO-ECONOMIC aspects of planning we got the answers of some important
Questions related to Planning
 where the people live?
 Wherever they are living is this place is suitable for them or not?
 What type of they are? What is their behavior with others?
 What is their community?
 What is their religion?
 What is their living manner?
These all things brings a large effect on planning.

19. The main focus of sociology is the group not individual. Sociologists attempt to understand the forces that
operates throughout society. Forces that mold individuals shape, their behavior and this determines social
events.
For example:
When you walk into an introductory physics class, you may know very little about the subject and hold
very few opinions about the various topics within the field on the other hand when you inter in sociology
introductory class for the first time you will feel quite familiar with subject matter, you have to advantage of
coming to sociology with substantial amount of inform action. Which you have end simplify by being a
society, ironically this knowledge also can leave you at disadvantage because those views have not be
gathered in a scientific fashion and may not be accurate.
