NocPlace is looking for a few developer interns. You better read the slideshare before you apply though....

1. Are you a smart and creative CS or Math major? Or know one? Want to intern at the hottest social media startup in Austin?

2. Now, you may claim to be smart and creative.

3. But you could actually be a douchetool.

4. And we don’t cotton to your type.

5. In an attempt to suss your ass out, we want you to ask us a question.

6. A question you don’t think we can answer. Tweet it in 140 or less (no long updates) with @nocplace and #nocplaceintern in the tweet.

7. Why intern at NocPlace? Our enterprise social app had guidance from some fairly cool companies:

8. And we are corporate philanthropists. Like Tom’s Shoes, giving is woven into our business plan.

9. How? When members use NocPlace they earn levels and badges. Each level achieved means school supplies for the neediest kids in the world.

10. So, along with developer duties, you'll have to help pack the boxes with school supplies. These are selfless things. And you must do this cheerfully. We will have beer.

11. Now do you see why we can’t take douchetools?

12. But there are some solid skills or experiences you should have:

13. · A major or minor in Computer Science or Mathematics · Experience developing with php or Ruby on Rails · Experience writing queries to extract data from relational databases · You like working in a fast-paced start up environment where you could quite easily be challenged with very different tasks each week. · Work collaboratively with engineers to design optimal solutions. · Comfortable operating in UNIX/Linux environments (command lines). · Proven ability to solve complex problems.
