In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real
media products?

Contents:
Costumes
In my media product,
I decided to use the
genre of Film Noir.
Traditional film noir
clothing consists mostly
of elegant and smart
clothing. I have copied
this in my movie
openning.
Camera work & editing
I have used traditional
methods of editing and
camera work.
Using various different
shots, including close up,
POI, low angle, etc, i was
able to copy the style of
traditional film noir movies
Story Narrative
• I started my movie at a late stage.
Meaning that the audience does
not know what has happened
before, and does not have any
basic information. This i have
done to create mystery and
suspense, to hook the viewer.
This again has been done by
various film noir directors, and
was used frequently. This also
applies to Todorov's theory
Font & Style
I have used an old and
bold font. This is
exactly like seen in
various film noir
movies. I thought this
element would be
essential to copy the
style. Not only this, but
it will also enable the
viewer to catch more
information, as it
stands out.
Genre and suggestions
• I have chosen the film noir
genre. If i were to redo this
project, i might change a
few things to improve the
final outcome. These
things would include the
following; better camera,
better conditions, better
acting. Although i am very
satisfied with the final
outcome, the things listed
are very hard to change,
since we have limited
resources, and have to
learn to deal with them.
Like a director does.
Characters
• The characters that I have
used in my movie are not
perfect for the genre. This
is because A, they are too
young, and B because
they have no previous
drama experience. This is
because again i have
limited resources. Overall
i was very satisfied with
the choice i made though.
Special FX
• I have added a few
special sound effects
in my movie. For
example the opening
of the iron gate, or the
fights. This is very
important for the
movie, since sound is
always something that
is essential for every
movie, and are very
hard to capture with
the resources
provided.

  • 3. Costumes In my media product, I decided to use the genre of Film Noir. Traditional film noir clothing consists mostly of elegant and smart clothing. I have copied this in my movie openning.
  • 4. Camera work & editing I have used traditional methods of editing and camera work. Using various different shots, including close up, POI, low angle, etc, i was able to copy the style of traditional film noir movies
  • 5. Story Narrative • I started my movie at a late stage. Meaning that the audience does not know what has happened before, and does not have any basic information. This i have done to create mystery and suspense, to hook the viewer. This again has been done by various film noir directors, and was used frequently. This also applies to Todorov's theory
  • 6. Font & Style I have used an old and bold font. This is exactly like seen in various film noir movies. I thought this element would be essential to copy the style. Not only this, but it will also enable the viewer to catch more information, as it stands out.
  • 7. Genre and suggestions • I have chosen the film noir genre. If i were to redo this project, i might change a few things to improve the final outcome. These things would include the following; better camera, better conditions, better acting. Although i am very satisfied with the final outcome, the things listed are very hard to change, since we have limited resources, and have to learn to deal with them. Like a director does.
  • 8. Characters • The characters that I have used in my movie are not perfect for the genre. This is because A, they are too young, and B because they have no previous drama experience. This is because again i have limited resources. Overall i was very satisfied with the choice i made though.
  • 9. Special FX • I have added a few special sound effects in my movie. For example the opening of the iron gate, or the fights. This is very important for the movie, since sound is always something that is essential for every movie, and are very hard to capture with the resources provided.
