The Nutcraker <ul><li>The nutcracker is a fairy tale ballet in two acts, three scenes made by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, composed in 1891-1892. </li></ul><ul><li>The Nutcracker Ballet is based on the story &quot;The Nutcracker and the King of Mice&quot; written by Hoffman.  Although what is seen on the stage today is different in detail from the original story. </li></ul>
  3. 3. The Nutcraker Story <ul><li>It is Christmas Eve. The children are dancing and playing and his uncle gaves each one a Nutcracker. As the clock strikes midnight strange things begin to happen. The toys began to battle to the kids. </li></ul>
  4. 4. The Swan Lake <ul><li>Is based on a anonym libretto (something like a notebook). </li></ul><ul><li>It has five types of instrumentation: </li></ul><ul><li>woodwinds, brass, percussion and strings. </li></ul>
  5. 5. The Swan Lake Story <ul><li>Composed 1875-1876. The scenario, initially in four acts, tells the story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse </li></ul>

The Queen of Spades <ul><li>Tchaikovsky made the music of the opera “The Queen of Spades” </li></ul><ul><li>Is an opera in 3 acts by Tchaikovsky to a Russian libretto, based on a short story of the same name by the poet Alexander Pushkin. The premiere performance took place in 1890 in St. Petersburg, Russia. </li></ul>
  7. 7. The Queen of Spades <ul><li>When he goes to her house the night after her funeral and plays against Prince Yeletsky, he wins twice by the cards shown him by the ghost. He stakes everything he possesses on the third card but he turns up, not the expected card, but the queen of spades herself. At the same instant he sees a vision of the Countess, triumphant and smiling. Desperate, Herman ends his life. </li></ul>

Marche Slave <ul><li>The Slavonic March is an orchestral composition by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. </li></ul><ul><li>In June 1876, following incidents in which Turkish soldiers killed a large number of Christianity Slavs. Many Russians sympathized with those they considered to be their fellow Slavs and sent volunteer soldiers and aid to assist the Kingdom of Serbia. In the ensuing struggle the Serbian army was quickly defeated by the Turks. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Marche Slave <ul><li>Nikolai Rubinstein, a close friend of Tchaikovsky, asked him to compose a piece for a concert benefiting the wounded Russian volunteers. In a burst of patriotism, Tchaikovsky composed “Marche Slave </li></ul>
  10. 10. The Sleeping Beauty <ul><li>Is a ballet with a prologue and three acts, by Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky. The score was completed in 1889, and is the second of his three ballets. </li></ul>
  11. 11. The Sleeping Beauty <ul><li>It is a ballet adaptation to the story of Undine(a mythologic icon). </li></ul><ul><li>The instrumentation is based on strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion and instruments like the harp. </li></ul>
