It is only by understanding the answers to these questions that we can avoid the risk of generating a decade of Digital Landfill, and focus on generating digital assets which make a genuine contribution to a Digital Britain.

19. In spite of this, the level of public investment isn’t sufficient (nor will it ever be) to do the whole job

That is open& accessible Of a consistent standard Which supports research & teaching That is affordable To show that content is being used To crowdsource interpretation To support research & teaching To demonstrate economic return on free content A new shared economy of e-content which balances hard economics with soft – which values the input of labour, the market value of the content and our ability to pay.
