2. Sony Pictures/Icon/Focus Feature
The idents for a majority of production companies builds into a frame with the
company logo and then fades to black. The build ups vary greatly from each
company and are what help make each ident so unique. The build up often
resembles the name of the company with Focus Features for example starting with a
rather blurred picture and building into a sharper, focused picture.
3. Background
The vast majority of company idents tend to have a black background when the logo
comes up as this makes the bright colours of the logos stand out.We should create
our ident with a black background also so that it looks professional and so the logo
also stands out.
4. Horror Teaser Trailer Idents
•
The idents in the teaser trailer’s for Insidious, The Women In Black last between 1-2
seconds as they don’t show the full company ident and instead just a flash of the logo.
•
For some teaser trailers such as that for The Hills Have Eyes 2, an ident isn’t shown at all
however as this is in limited cases we should use an ident within our teaser trailer. Even
on longer teaser trailers such as for The Conjuring, which is 2:28 long, the two indents
are shown for less than a second each. In the case of the idents used in The Conjuring a
background, not usually part of the ident, has been added to help indicate the genre of
the film being advertised. With these two idents it is the ‘cold’ colours such as the
shades of blue, black and white that indicate the genre and help to build an eerie feel to
the teaser trailer.
