4. All the Gallant Men is the first memoir
by a USS Arizona survivor. Born in
Inavale, Nebraska and raised in Red
Cloud, Donald Stratton joined the Navy
in 1940 at the age of eighteen. On
December 7, 1941, he was a Seaman
First Class on the USS Arizona.

8. Nebraska Warrior Writers Program
■ In partnership with the Nebraska Writing
Project and the Veterans Administration,
Humanities Nebraska launched a new
writing program aimed at veterans and
active duty military personnel in the
autumn of 2014. Participants need only
be interested in writing in any form – they
do not need to have any previous writing
experience to benefit from the
workshops.
