Notas do Editor

  1. Overview of program
  2. Discuss goals to improve and create a designated gifted and talented program In class Pull out Community
  3. Ask if there are any questions and answer any questions they may have regarding any of the above
  4. Explain that this group will always be involved in the identification process but that others will be invited to participate—every child is different—emphasize this point
  5. Click on link and go over this with everyone Answer questions as they arise
  6. Click on NWEA and explain that we will use this as ONE component for identification. Even though parents have been told of this assessment –some or many may have questions. Discuss and explain the remainder of this list Any ideas for expansion?
  7. Explain to parents that we will take all students into consideration. Discuss the importance of these alternatives from Growing Up Gifted so administrators, teachers, and parents get a CLEAR picture of what this entails in order to be fair to all!
  8. Give overview but let people know that this is a work in progress. Teachers need to be brought up to speed on understanding, identifying, accelerating, tracking, and items on the next slide. We are going to make improvements and changes but in order for us to be successful, we must have a good solid plan and not “let the tail wag the dog.”
  9. Explain the components of each. Many will be unfamiliar with the terms so it is important for them to understand them. This will take some time. Remind them that teachers will be trained and retrained in these area plus additional areas that arise. Questions?
  10. This is something that SHOULD always be happening in our school. Improvement. This is important.
  11. Dream Classroom for various types of learners. This will provide an example other than the traditional rows arrangement. Example room window and door placement is from three classrooms on East side of building.
  12. Encourage and excite people here!
  13. Our current transportation budget includes extra money for field trips, travel to other schools as needs occur, ETC.
  14. Year one suggested budget that our current superintendent thinks is an obtainable goal.
  15. Tell them that is is a lot to digest in one shot. Make myself available to them by email for follow up questions or if they want to come and see me to talk about this further. Encourage them to go home and click on the links to reread information.
