I noted the following themes that came up as factors in the respondents’ conversations with their mother figures around sex and sexuality: Clear Information Culture Honesty/Openness Pregnancy Prevention Mother’s Journey Shame, Guilt, & Normalcy Marriage, Religion & Virginity Distinguishing Love and Sex Self-Esteem & Empowerment I have placed the participants’ responses in bold , and I also share my brief analysis throughout on their statements. Of course, these responses can be interpreted in a variety of ways, and you will see that many of the themes are interwoven throughout the responses.
