Evaluation question 4
 My main target audience is late
Teen to young adult ages.
From 15-35.
 most horrors are watched by this age group and with
my audience research and planning this became
apparent. It would appeal more however to existing
horror fans and as it’s a psychological horror genre so
It may be even more appealing and intriguing.
 Its quite a niche market , but is realistic as its un
suitable for younger views and wont really appeal to
an older audience, however might attract some.
 Horrors on whole are for a predominantly male audience
this is because men are more thrill-seekers and macho
than women.
 But, this is stereotyping and a female audience, especially
within the teen/young adult audience may be encouraged
to watch a horror. Some people new to the genre may
want to experience it also.
 My media product is a psychological horror. It is very intense
viewing and may be mis-understood by an audience younger than
15.
 Horrors always have an age guideline of 15+ as they're typically
horrific, scary, freighting, loud and mysterious therefore it would’t
be appropriate or be of any enjoyment.This would be the same
with a family audience as well as mid-aged and elderly people.
Hence the audience market is particularly niche in my case.
 If I had of asked a mid-aged or elderly persons view on horror films
it would differ very much so from a teen/young adults view.
Although 35+ audiences may be eradicated, horror films are open
to anyone, but specifically focused for a niche age range.(15-35)
 To receive the desired audience in larger quantities,
my media product is to be shown at multiplex
cinemas eg.odeon.This is because social experience is
included and very popular to the 15+ friends groups.
 Multiplexes are open to all ages depending on the
film, but my media product is best viewed with
surround sound and graphics. So the teens get the
feeling of the intentions proposed within the media
product of adrenaline rush, nervousness and
apprehension, which is the aim for the audience.
I think I have put my media product
together considering the genre and
features with relevant research and
planning, to get the specific target
audience intended.

Evaluation question 4

  • 2.  My main target audience is late Teen to young adult ages. From 15-35.  most horrors are watched by this age group and with my audience research and planning this became apparent. It would appeal more however to existing horror fans and as it’s a psychological horror genre so It may be even more appealing and intriguing.  Its quite a niche market , but is realistic as its un suitable for younger views and wont really appeal to an older audience, however might attract some.
  • 3.  Horrors on whole are for a predominantly male audience this is because men are more thrill-seekers and macho than women.  But, this is stereotyping and a female audience, especially within the teen/young adult audience may be encouraged to watch a horror. Some people new to the genre may want to experience it also.
  • 4.  My media product is a psychological horror. It is very intense viewing and may be mis-understood by an audience younger than 15.  Horrors always have an age guideline of 15+ as they're typically horrific, scary, freighting, loud and mysterious therefore it would’t be appropriate or be of any enjoyment.This would be the same with a family audience as well as mid-aged and elderly people. Hence the audience market is particularly niche in my case.  If I had of asked a mid-aged or elderly persons view on horror films it would differ very much so from a teen/young adults view. Although 35+ audiences may be eradicated, horror films are open to anyone, but specifically focused for a niche age range.(15-35)
  • 5.  To receive the desired audience in larger quantities, my media product is to be shown at multiplex cinemas eg.odeon.This is because social experience is included and very popular to the 15+ friends groups.  Multiplexes are open to all ages depending on the film, but my media product is best viewed with surround sound and graphics. So the teens get the feeling of the intentions proposed within the media product of adrenaline rush, nervousness and apprehension, which is the aim for the audience.
  • 6. I think I have put my media product together considering the genre and features with relevant research and planning, to get the specific target audience intended.
