Career Essay : My Career Choice
My Career Choice When I was in elementary, I remember being asked: "what do you want to be
when you grow up?" I remember saying" I want to be a singer or a professional dancer and dance
with celebrities." When I was in middle school I realized I wanted to be in the Medical Field and
become a pediatrician. Once I started high school, I joined Dinuba High school Medical
Academy through this program I got so much information and opportunities' to learn more about
what I wanted to be. Even though I was in this program, and I was meeting a lot of professionals'
with different careers I remember still not really being sure of what I wanted to be. Finally, in my
junior year, I made a decision that changed my career choice, I decided to volunteer at Reedley
Hospital this made me realize I wanted to become a Midwife, But what's a Midwife you say?
well, this essay will explain and give answers to your questions. As mentioned before in my
Junior year of high school I decide to Join a volunteer program at Reedley hospital, I was assigned
to help with the labor and delivery section, while volunteering I was allowed to help out in a
delivery, while being in the room my duty was to tell doctors when the next contraction was
coming and I would also hold the patient's leg and help her push, when I saw the baby being born
and crying I was so happy, I felt something inside of me, I didn't know how to explain it, but it was
just something that made realize I wanted to help mothers bring

Career goals in Psychology

PSY 215 Careers in Psychology
I want to be a psychologist. I would love to learn all about the way people act, think and feel and at
the same time try to help them. I have a very easygoing personality and I love to have fun and laugh.
I ask a lot of questions, and I think I am very easy to get along with. Some career goals I have is to
finish college, I would like to find a job I want to keep that I could make a career out of, and just
take it one day at a time because I have desire to make the right decisions and live a pleasant life.
I first became interested in psychology a couple years ago. I feel like I need to try and help make a

O*Net Interest Profiler The question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" meant so many
things throughout middle childhood, adolescence, and was even relevant in adulthood. My interests
varied from law, to education, and even construction for a period. It took most of my lifetime and
lived experiences, up until very recently, to actually figure out, make a decision, and follow through,
with my true occupational goals. This paper will examine my current career path and goals. It will
investigate the results of the O*Net Interest Profiler in which I participated, and how they compare
to my current occupational goals. Finally, it will discuss gained insights and further resources for
future career exploration.
Current Career Path and Career Choice I have always known that I wanted to work with people.
The ability to communicate and reach people on different levels is a skill that I don't believe can be
taught – one simply has it or they do not. There certainly are educational models that can help
develop these skills, along with diverse life experiences that can integrate and incorporate learned
traits; however, if one does not possess comfortability with people, and is not equipped with
particular skill sets that are natural, a career working with people may not be the best choice. Any
career that I had been interested in involved helping. My real career decision was to be a high
school English Teacher, although it certainly wasn't a decision with staying power.

Career Change Essay
INTRODUCTION
According to Mondy and Noe (2005), career is a job that has been chosen to be accomplished
during one's working life. Career is the progress and actions of the person's occupations or
sequence of jobs held by someone throughout a lifetime which is until that person end up the
careers. Most of the situations, people do not just referring to one position only but often looking
for another jobs which composed of the jobs held, titles earned and work accomplished over a long
period of time. There is an increasing trend to employees changing jobs more frequently, while
employees in some cultures and economies stay with one job during their career. For example, an
individual's career could involve being an engineer, though the...show more content...
However, based on all of the stages been discussed earlier, people in the mid–forties to mid–fifties
are at a different stage in their career and life than people that is at age 25 or 45. A careerchange
after age 40 can be a tricky situation. In this stage, people will decide whether to continue along
the same track because it is comfortable familiar and secure or change into the other career since
there is an opportunity to pursue new personal or professional goals. This stage is called as middle
career years or mid–career change. According to OUM textbook, mid–career means re–appraise
early career and early adulthood, reaffirm or modify goals, make choices appropriate to middle adult
years and remain productive. Mid–career is a time in which one is more likely to consider leaving a
current job in order to take work in an organization that might indicate promise of greater career
fulfillment or address a need for increased salary or benefits, intrinsic and extrinsic (WordWeb).
After 40, many people begin to look at life differently which they often begin to feel that life really
is too short to be stuck in a dead–end or unsatisfying job. In this middle age situation, it is a time in
which adults take on new responsibilities at the workplace and therefore, people of this age often
feel a need to reappraise previous life structures with an

A Career as a Psychologist Essay
Psychologists are very important people; they help millions of people with their everyday
struggles and problems that they have to deal with. Not only do psychologists help people with
problems that they cannot handle on their own, they also are scientists who study human minds
and behaviors. With being a psychologist, there are many different careers to choose from within
this profession (Explore Health Careers). The first type of psychologists to choose from is a
clinical psychologist. Clinical psychologists help people with counseling and psychotherapy. They
work with people who have all around life problems, such as new adjustments in life. Clinical
psychologists also help people who have emotional disorders or...show more content...
They also provide consolation to courts and attorneys in different types of legal proceedings (Psyris).
Next is an organization psychologist, which helps in the productivity of groups and individuals in a
workplace. These types of psychologists focus on improving the function of organizations, and to
keep individuals healthy within the organization (Psyris). Another type of psychology to choose from
is a counseling psychologist. These are important psychologists because they teach people how to
deal with their everyday problems. They help their patients determine their problems and help them
understand the problems they are facing. Not only do counseling psychologists help their patients
with the issues they are experiencing at home but also in their workplace or their community in
general. By helping their patients identify their strengths and resources, is how counseling
psychologists help them with their problems (Bureau of Labor Statistics). The next type of
psychology is the developmental psychologist. Developmental psychologists work with
psychological processes and development that takes place throughout life. They study aging and
problems the elderly may face, but this type of psychologist mainly focuses on children and
adolescents (Bureau of Labor Statistics). The last type of psychologist to choose from is the social

Nicole Cichowicz Dr. Ancrum Career Project 30 November, 2016 Career Project Typically, when
someone hears 'medical field', automatically you think of people with white lab coats and a
stethoscope around their neck ready to take your vitals. Obviously this comes to mind because
these doctors and surgeons are the face of the medical field, but in reality there is so much more.
There are actually about 300 different occupations one can have in the health care field. A large
part of that is nurses. Nurses are the basis of the medical field; they are almost as important as the
patients themselves. They have always been a major part of our lives. Nurses have been with us
since we first opened our eyes, from birth to broken bones, nurses were there. They have very
difficult and extensive careers, they dedicate their lives to their work and to their patients. Some
nurses spend long nights away from their family and friends to help others, at times their shifts
can last as long as 24 hours. In my opinion nurses are the real super heroes, for this reason I have
decided to pursue a major in nursing. I still have a lot to learn and many years of schooling to go,
but personally its worth the wait. Like many other careers education is crucial. It takes years of
studying and dedication. Without proper knowledge and education, someone's life could be at stake.
All careers in the medical field have different educational requisites that have to be met. Each level

Choosing a Career Essay
My whole life I have always wanted to do something where people will remember me. I went
threw millions of career choices before I came to the conclusion of a nurse. It's not something
that will get me into History books, but its something where all the people I help will remember
what I did to care for them or their loved ones. My mom went to school to become and RN, but
dropped out when she became pregnant with me. After that story was told to me, I didn't want to be
anything related to nursing. It wasn't until my step mom went to school to be LPN that I realized it
would be possible for me to do. I saw how much happiness it gave her, and I want the same thing.
She loved helping the patients by treating them, and helping their families...show more content...
It is a program that is based on the health career field, especially nursing. I have this course for
three classes a day and it takes up most of my school day. These classes have given me invaluable
information and training that will be very useful in my collage courses. My volunteer work at the
Veterans Hospital will also help me with becoming a RN because it is sort of like on–the–job
training. I get to experience working with patients, in a real hospital setting. My step mom has lots
of her old nursing books from her LPN training. I frequently look into them to help me with my
Diversified Health Occupations homework, and sometime just to see how something works, or is
done. Everyone knows that health careers tend to make a decent amount of money, but according to
the Bureau of Labor Statistics, "the average amount of money that an RN makes is between
$47,710 and $69,850" (Registered Nurses). You typically work about fifty to sixty hours a week, on
a normal shift. Meaning, 7a.m. to 3p.m., 3 p.m. to11 p.m. and 11p.m–7a.m. During your shift you
will have to treat patients, educate the patient on how to care for themselves properly, provide
assistance and emotional support for the patients and the families of the patients, administer
medication, provide rehabilitation, use medical machinery, record symptoms and medical history,
as well as do follow up follow up records. As I learned from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, RN's

it is many years of hard work. He graduated with a BS in Psychology and hadn't planned on going

The goal itself is attainable, but it's important not to waste time fiddling with other jobs. In terms
of realistic, he said, to "think about the quality of life." If I'm going to graduate with thousands

Essay about Choosing a Right Career Path
Choosing a right career path can be tough. Especially, when the parents are involved. Parents want
their children to have a better life in the future so they want their children to be educated. When
they are successfully graduate from the college they can get a high paying job and earn much
more than their parents. However, does everyone listen and follow their parents' decisions about
the career? What happen if kids didn't want what their parents told them to do? Is there a
compromise and or one side needs to give in? It was a tough decision for me too. There was a lot

My explanation somehow did not work well. I started struggling between my career and my father's

related to my future career. Before I told my parents I had decided to be a graphic designer, I did a
little research on the job. It was good, but required lots experiences to get in a decent game company
like Riot. But I did not stick with one job. I also heard of 3D modeling, programming and animation
were good choices for me and I liked them too. I decided to go to City Tech College for four years
education in Emerging Media major and I hoped I could get a job I like to do. According to the
article "As Income Gap Widens, New York Grows Apart" written by James Parrott, college educated
young workers' earning has fallen 6% since 1990. And it's false that those who pursue higher
education and skills can get a higher economic reword. Everything is competitive now; the value
of education does not count toward our future income earning. I realize that even if I graduated
from the college there was higher chance I would not have a job or a job that I did not expect and
paid very low. However, I do like what I do right now in my major class. I think if you did what you
want and be happy with it, it doesn't matter how low you get paid you still fulfill in your life. After

The Importance Of A Career
There are many decisions an individual has to make in life, and choosing a career is one of the
most important decisions he or she can make. Many people struggle with choosing one because of
various factors that must be considered before embarking on a career path. Knowledge of self is
important because, in order to successfully choose a correct path in life, it is important for the
person to know themselves and align their personalities and abilities to what they choose to do.
Individuals must set goals for themselves in terms of what they want out of their education and career
so that they can make informed decisions pertaining to their lives. Plans must be carefully made if
people want a successful career that they feel fulfilled with. My client, Randy, has been through a
process of learning about himself, has goals that have been, and will be, fulfilled, and has set clear
plans on what he wants out of his career. Randy is a successful athletic trainer because he has taken
the time to plan his life out and find a job that best matches his personality and goals.
Self–Knowledge Goal A keen understanding of self is important in any important decision, as
someone must know themselves to understand what they want out of life. Self–knowledge means
understanding self, including what the person is interested in, values, likes and dislikes, and where
one's priorities lie. In the interview, Randy seemed to go through a process in which he found out
about himself through

Career Essay : A Career As A Career Journalism
The career I have chosen to research is journalism. I specifically chose this career because I love
writing, designing, and reading the news and learning about the news of the day. I read a lot of
news, review articles, my favorite, opinion articles, and the internet is my favorite resource. I enjoy
writing well enough to do it for the rest of my life. The reason I want to have this career is that I am
very excited about the idea of delivering news, and writing stories for people who want to be heard.
I want to find the smaller social groups, and age groups and share a story about them. The minorities
need to be heard, everyone needs to be heard. I want to be their ticket to getting out of a bad
situation. I want to help them to tell their story and feel like they have hope that someone that cares
for them and is willing to help. I think that is the main reason I want to be a journalist.
I know that in this career you have to know how to write interesting stories and capture the
reader's eyes and mind. I need to take classes that deal with specific topics that really amplify their
time in those departments. I have to be able to know how to read at an appropriate level, and
work on vocabulary skills. A journalist has to work on time and cannot procrastinate, I cannot
afford to be shy around people and I know I need to get in people's faces and business sometimes to
get a good story.

graduate school, which is a must to attend, there is the option to explore the different specialities

within a specific specialty. There is the option to be a teacher, to work for various organizations,
be a speaker, to have your own practice, and many others. In the psychology field these options
can all be combined. In fact it is expected of psychologists to do more activities involving their
specialty than solely sit in an office and listen to patients. There are two specialities that I am
interested in however, over the years, these specialties have become very similar. Clinical and
counseling psychology have evolved to become one in the same. Someone who specializes in

computer networks they are often able to telecommute from home. The education requirement for
these workers is typically a bachelor's degree but a professional certification may be adequate for
some employers. "Experience with network security and maintenance is preferred. Because network
administrators are involved directly with people in many departments, good communication skills
are essential." (O'Leary & O'Leary, 2008) Network and computer system administrators can
expect to earn an annual salary ranging from $41,000 to $104,070. "Median annual wages of

  • 4. My Career Path And Career Essay O*Net Interest Profiler The question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" meant so many things throughout middle childhood, adolescence, and was even relevant in adulthood. My interests varied from law, to education, and even construction for a period. It took most of my lifetime and lived experiences, up until very recently, to actually figure out, make a decision, and follow through, with my true occupational goals. This paper will examine my current career path and goals. It will investigate the results of the O*Net Interest Profiler in which I participated, and how they compare to my current occupational goals. Finally, it will discuss gained insights and further resources for future career exploration. Current Career Path and Career Choice I have always known that I wanted to work with people. The ability to communicate and reach people on different levels is a skill that I don't believe can be taught – one simply has it or they do not. There certainly are educational models that can help develop these skills, along with diverse life experiences that can integrate and incorporate learned traits; however, if one does not possess comfortability with people, and is not equipped with particular skill sets that are natural, a career working with people may not be the best choice. Any career that I had been interested in involved helping. My real career decision was to be a high school English Teacher, although it certainly wasn't a decision with staying power. However, based on all of the stages been discussed earlier, people in the mid–forties to mid–fifties are at a different stage in their career and life than people that is at age 25 or 45. A careerchange after age 40 can be a tricky situation. In this stage, people will decide whether to continue along the same track because it is comfortable familiar and secure or change into the other career since there is an opportunity to pursue new personal or professional goals. This stage is called as middle career years or mid–career change. According to OUM textbook, mid–career means re–appraise early career and early adulthood, reaffirm or modify goals, make choices appropriate to middle adult years and remain productive. Mid–career is a time in which one is more likely to consider leaving a current job in order to take work in an organization that might indicate promise of greater career fulfillment or address a need for increased salary or benefits, intrinsic and extrinsic (WordWeb). After 40, many people begin to look at life differently which they often begin to feel that life really is too short to be stuck in a dead–end or unsatisfying job. • 7. Career Project : Career Projects Essay Nicole Cichowicz Dr. Ancrum Career Project 30 November, 2016 Career Project Typically, when someone hears 'medical field', automatically you think of people with white lab coats and a stethoscope around their neck ready to take your vitals. Obviously this comes to mind because these doctors and surgeons are the face of the medical field, but in reality there is so much more. There are actually about 300 different occupations one can have in the health care field. A large part of that is nurses. Nurses are the basis of the medical field; they are almost as important as the patients themselves. They have always been a major part of our lives. Nurses have been with us since we first opened our eyes, from birth to broken bones, nurses were there. They have very difficult and extensive careers, they dedicate their lives to their work and to their patients. Some nurses spend long nights away from their family and friends to help others, at times their shifts can last as long as 24 hours. In my opinion nurses are the real super heroes, for this reason I have decided to pursue a major in nursing. I still have a lot to learn and many years of schooling to go, but personally its worth the wait. Like many other careers education is crucial. It takes years of studying and dedication. Without proper knowledge and education, someone's life could be at stake. All careers in the medical field have different educational requisites that have to be met. Each level of nursing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Choosing a Career Essay My whole life I have always wanted to do something where people will remember me. I went threw millions of career choices before I came to the conclusion of a nurse. It's not something that will get me into History books, but its something where all the people I help will remember what I did to care for them or their loved ones. My mom went to school to become and RN, but dropped out when she became pregnant with me. After that story was told to me, I didn't want to be anything related to nursing. It wasn't until my step mom went to school to be LPN that I realized it would be possible for me to do. I saw how much happiness it gave her, and I want the same thing. She loved helping the patients by treating them, and helping their families...show more content... It is a program that is based on the health career field, especially nursing. I have this course for three classes a day and it takes up most of my school day. These classes have given me invaluable information and training that will be very useful in my collage courses. My volunteer work at the Veterans Hospital will also help me with becoming a RN because it is sort of like on–the–job training. I get to experience working with patients, in a real hospital setting. My step mom has lots of her old nursing books from her LPN training. I frequently look into them to help me with my Diversified Health Occupations homework, and sometime just to see how something works, or is done. Everyone knows that health careers tend to make a decent amount of money, but according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, "the average amount of money that an RN makes is between $47,710 and $69,850" (Registered Nurses). You typically work about fifty to sixty hours a week, on a normal shift. Meaning, 7a.m. to 3p.m., 3 p.m. to11 p.m. and 11p.m–7a.m. During your shift you will have to treat patients, educate the patient on how to care for themselves properly, provide assistance and emotional support for the patients and the families of the patients, administer medication, provide rehabilitation, use medical machinery, record symptoms and medical history, as well as do follow up follow up records. • 9. After having taken this psychology career development course (PSY 3024), I've learned a lot about not only different psychology options, but also a lot about myself. Having come into this course, I really didn't know what I wanted to do. I really just declared psychology as my major in the summer before this semester. So, definitely my career plans have changed after taking this course. Psychology has many different subfields, ones I learned I had no idea about prior to taking this course. For example, I learned about sports psychologists and how they assist athletes in different ways to ultimately help them prevail. I learned about forensic psychologists and how they work with the judicial system and do many tasks, including helping...show more content... He firstly explained to me that becoming a neuropsychologist is realistic and attainable, however it is many years of hard work. He graduated with a BS in Psychology and hadn't planned on going to graduate school. He then tried numerous types of different works like working in a senior home care facility where he was unhappy. He jumped from different jobs until he eventually went to graduate school and got a MA and PsyD in Clinical Psychology. He didn't get board certified until 7 years later when he ultimately started to work in neuro and became co–owner of his own consultants practice. He recommended to me that if I already know what I want, then to find a program in neuropsychology (R. Cohen, personal communication, November 16, 2017). The goal itself is attainable, but it's important not to waste time fiddling with other jobs. In terms of realistic, he said, to "think about the quality of life." If I'm going to graduate with thousands and thousands of dollars in debt of student loans, then I really need to take a step back and consider what life will really be like at that point. He explained how when he worked as a therapist for children who had been abused, he was making around $50–55,000 a year, but now is earning more and is able to provide a great quality of life his wife and children. Parents want their children to have a better life in the future so they want their children to be educated. When they are successfully graduate from the college they can get a high paying job and earn much more than their parents. However, does everyone listen and follow their parents' decisions about the career? What happen if kids didn't want what their parents told them to do? Is there a compromise and or one side needs to give in? It was a tough decision for me too. There was a lot of pressure on me. My explanation somehow did not work well. I started struggling between my career and my father's "career". Before it was too late to decide my major, I gave a chance for myself and picked something related to my future career. Before I told my parents I had decided to be a graphic designer, I did a little research on the job. It was good, but required lots experiences to get in a decent game company like Riot. But I did not stick with one job. I also heard of 3D modeling, programming and animation were good choices for me and I liked them too. I decided to go to City Tech College for four years education in Emerging Media major and I hoped I could get a job I like to do. According to the article "As Income Gap Widens, New York Grows Apart" written by James Parrott, college educated young workers' earning has fallen 6% since 1990. And it's false that those who pursue higher education and skills can get a higher economic reword. Everything is competitive now; the value of education does not count toward our future income earning. I realize that even if I graduated from the college there was higher chance I would not have a job or a job that I did not expect and paid very low. However, I do like what I do right now in my major class. I think if you did what you want and be happy with it, it doesn't matter how low you get paid you still fulfill in your life. • 13. The Importance Of A Career There are many decisions an individual has to make in life, and choosing a career is one of the most important decisions he or she can make. Many people struggle with choosing one because of various factors that must be considered before embarking on a career path. Knowledge of self is important because, in order to successfully choose a correct path in life, it is important for the person to know themselves and align their personalities and abilities to what they choose to do. Individuals must set goals for themselves in terms of what they want out of their education and career so that they can make informed decisions pertaining to their lives. Plans must be carefully made if people want a successful career that they feel fulfilled with. My client, Randy, has been through a process of learning about himself, has goals that have been, and will be, fulfilled, and has set clear plans on what he wants out of his career. Randy is a successful athletic trainer because he has taken the time to plan his life out and find a job that best matches his personality and goals. Self–Knowledge Goal A keen understanding of self is important in any important decision, as someone must know themselves to understand what they want out of life. In the interview, Randy seemed to go through a process in which he found out about himself through Get more content on HelpWriting.net

In the psychology field these options can all be combined. In fact it is expected of psychologists to do more activities involving their specialty than solely sit in an office and listen to patients. There are two specialities that I am interested in however, over the years, these specialties have become very similar. Clinical and counseling psychology have evolved to become one in the same.
