Current models of mobile game applications are focused on destruction and demolition or
have a strong zoo focus, glamourising animals as pets and wildlife in captivity. Users
spend hours each day playing games with no actual value, so why not give them a game with
charitable and educational values?

VOLUNTEER TOURISMThe amalgamation of tourism and volunteering has been a growing phenomenon in the global tourism market. This niche travel segment
blends together the desire “to do good” with the highlights of an exotic location. More than just a vacation, voluntourism, as
it often called, comprises over 2 million participants a year, hundreds of participating charitable organizations, thousands of
travel operators, and involves almost every country around the globe.
Based on industry research the following trends and success factors were indentified for the industry:
• Duration and flexibility of stays, i.e. shorter durations versus longer durations.
• The number of volunteers is projected to increase, as various generations (Baby Boomers, Gen-Xers and Millennials) seek a deeper
meaning in their vacations.
• Responsible travel and ethical standards are increasingly becoming more important as many companies are doing more harm then
good.
• There is more scrutiny on the disbursements of volunteer money. There is a continued need for transparency to avoid
exploitation.
• Volunteer travelers tend to be 53% Female and 47% Male.
• Age Segments: Less than 18 (12%); 20-40 year olds (33%); 41-60 year olds (34%).
