INTRODUCTION


Shivaji Bhosale, also known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosale.



Shivaji was the founder of Maratha Empire in western India in 1674



Born: February 19, 1627



Died: April 3, 1680



Father: Shahaji



Mother: Jijabai



Shivaji with his ideology of Hindavi Swaraj (Freedom for Hindustan) decided
to directly challenge Bijapur Sultanate rule and eventually the Mughal empire
to established the Maratha Samrajya or the Maratha kingdom for there
Marathas, by the Marathas and of the Marathas.
Leadership Qualities


An example of this is how readily his men like Baji Prabhu Deshpande
and others volunteered to face even the likelihood of certain death
at Ghod Khind to help Shivaji continue the fight of independence –
eliciting such heroism from followers cannot be mandates,
it can only be inspired by :

Broad Principles of Shivaji’s Administration


The defence of the country (Swarajya) should be given highest priority through a
network of well garrisoned land and marine forts, a strong army and a navy. In
view of peculiar geographical features of Maharashtra specially kokan region this
was the best means of protecting the land from hostile powers.



All posts were to be filled on the basis of merit and not heredity, caste or religion.



Revenue collection was to be direct, i.e. by the state, through its own agencies
and departments and through middleman of any type.



During war and in course of raids in the enemy territory the women, children and
religion places were not to suffer any harm or damage.
TRAITS OF HIS GREAT LEADERSHIP

  • 1. CHHATRAPATI SHIVAJI MAHARAJ –THE GREAT INDIAN LEADER Done by:-VENKATA KAMYA .P Class:-4th School name:-NARAYANA E-TECHNO SCHOOL

INTRODUCTION  Shivaji Bhosale, also known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosale.  Shivaji was the founder of Maratha Empire in western India in 1674  Born: February 19, 1627  Died: April 3, 1680  Father: Shahaji  Mother: Jijabai  Shivaji with his ideology of Hindavi Swaraj (Freedom for Hindustan) decided to directly challenge Bijapur Sultanate rule and eventually the Mughal empire to established the Maratha Samrajya or the Maratha kingdom for there Marathas, by the Marathas and of the Marathas.
  • 3. Leadership Qualities  An example of this is how readily his men like Baji Prabhu Deshpande and others volunteered to face even the likelihood of certain death at Ghod Khind to help Shivaji continue the fight of independence – eliciting such heroism from followers cannot be mandates, it can only be inspired by :  Purity of character  Noble  Awe inspiring leadership and  A truly shared vision for homeland.

Skills  Shivaji Mharaj’s kingdom served as a Hindu bulwark against Mughal powers within India.  His brilliant strategic- (ganimi kava)  Tactical management on battlefields,  Acute management and  Administrative skills helped him to lay the foundations of the future Maratha empire in India.
  • 5. ACHIEVEMENTS  Clash with the Mughals-  AFZAL DEATH-  Attack on SHAISTA KHAN-  Battle of Pratapgarh  Battle of Kolhapur  Siege of Panhala and Battle of Pavan Khind  Treaty of Purandar  Arrest in Agra and escape

Broad Principles of Shivaji’s Administration  The defence of the country (Swarajya) should be given highest priority through a network of well garrisoned land and marine forts, a strong army and a navy. In view of peculiar geographical features of Maharashtra specially kokan region this was the best means of protecting the land from hostile powers.  All posts were to be filled on the basis of merit and not heredity, caste or religion.  Revenue collection was to be direct, i.e. by the state, through its own agencies and departments and through middleman of any type.  During war and in course of raids in the enemy territory the women, children and religion places were not to suffer any harm or damage.

Conclusion  He was the type of the real son of India representing the true consciousness of the nation.  Shivaji embodied all the qualities that politicians should possess in 21st century India.  He was just, firm and stood for the weak; he was an honest and able administration.  Even today he rules the heart of Indian people.
