A new Ph.D. program in Earth, Space, and Atmospheric Science is starting in spring 2013 at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology located outside of Moscow, Russia. The program seeks candidates interested in space sciences, physics, and hazards. A limited number of positions are available and students will receive financial support including stipends, tuition waiver, housing, and insurance. Students may conduct research with faculty at MIT and other partner institutions. Applications are welcome from Russian and international students.

Our desire is to hire candidates with a strong interest in space sciences, space physics, and
space environment and hazards. We encourage applications from individuals with previous
experience in those subject areas, although that specific background is not mandatory.
A limited number of Ph.D. positions are available for enrollment as early as the spring semester of
2013. Ph.D. students may have the opportunity to conduct research side-by-side with their faculty
advisor in residence at MIT in Cambridge, USA, as well as at other institutions that are partnering
with Skoltech in its Centers for Research, Education, and Innovation (CREI). All admitted Ph.D.
students at Skoltech will receive an internationally competitive package of financial support, includ-
ing a stipend, tuition waiver, housing arrangements, and medical insurance. Skoltech welcomes
applications from Russian students as well as students outside of Russia.
The Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology is a new English-language graduate university
founded in 2011 and located just outside of Moscow in the Skolkovo Innovation Center. Estab-
lished in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Skoltech will educate future
generations of entrepreneurial scientists, advance knowledge, and foster technological innovation
to address the critical issues facing Russia and the world.
