Advantages a Questionnaire
 Large amounts of data can be collected from a large number of persons in a short period
of time.
 Are replicable and can be used in later studies and if well constructed and properly
plotted they should be reliable.
Disadvantages a Questionnaire
 Cannot tell us about context and meaning about a response
 Questions cannot be explained to respondents and can be misinterpreted unless
administered face to face and answers cannot be put into any real world context

INTERPRETATION &ANALYSIS OF DATA
Figure 1
-is a pie chart showing the causes of unemployment in the Mahaica village. It shows disability is
responsible for6% of the unemployed, health issues 10%, retrenchment 2%, psychological
problems 6%, location of job 18%, no job availability 24%, and qualification 34% which is the
highest. This is so because more persons are uneducated in this area.
Figure 2
-is a pie chart showing strategies that the government can use to reduce unemployment. It shows
that decrease in the amount of imports accounts for 20% of the suggestions, Introduction of more
foreign investment 8%, More infrastructural development 26%, Reduction in specialization and
increase in technical and vocational training among the population 44%,all of the strategies 2%.
This is so because most persons would like to be qualified for jobs they want.
Figure 3
-is a column graph showing ways in which unemployed persons in the Mahaica village obtain
financial assistance. It shows borrowing from family accounts for 42% of the responses, Personal
savings 38%, Help from friends and family 6%, and other means 14%.This is so because in the
Mahaica village you find that more than one families live together.
Figure 4
-is a pie chart showing the government respond to the high rate of unemployment. It shows that
provide public transportation for those who have problems getting to their jobs accounts for 14%
of the responses, providing training sessions for those who do not have the skills for their jobs
26%, support persons with financial assistance 6%, and did nothing about it got 54%. This is so
because there have been a high rate of unemployment in the Mahaica village for quiet some time
now and had seen no improvements at all.
Figure 5
-is a dough nut graph showing challenges faced by individuals in the Mahaica village. It shows
that decrease in standard of living accounts for 42%of the challenges faced, decrease in your
social status 22%, difficulty in obtaining financial support 18%, and other challenges 18%.This
is so because since persons are unemployed it has been hard to maintain there surroundings and
have little to non money to spend on their selves.

 The job market is too small.
 The family is effective in combating the harmful effects of unemployment.
 Government is not doing much to combat unemployment.
 People who are unemployed experience a low standard of living sink to way below the
poverty line.
 Most people choose education to be the most effective method of combating

16 | P a g e
RECOMMENDATIONS
