- 1. 2020 CEDS Leveraging Strengths in the MRCOG Region Process and Product
- 2. What is the CEDS? ļµ The CEDS is a locally-based, regionally-driven economic development plan. ļµ MRCOG is required to prepare and adopt a Comprehensive Economic Developmen Strategy for the region at least every five years.

Why Do a CEDS? ļµ The CEDS creates an opportunity to engage community leaders, involve and leverage the private sector, and establish a blueprint for collaborative economic growth in the region. ļµ The process builds leadership, enhances cooperation, and fosters public ownership and enthusiasm.

Rural ļµ Economic conditions of rural places are very different than urban America. ļµ In the years after the recession rural counties across the country lost and urban counties gainedājobs, people, and wealth. ļµ Technology innovations tend to occur when ideas and talent are concentratedāusually in large urban settings. ļµ Need tools specific to Rural Communities: Opportunity Zones, capital access, tax credits, specific economic focus areas.
