Independent Research Task
Now that you have a good understanding of what is a post modern text and have been shown a
number of examples it is your turn to choose a text. Your homework task for the next week is to
pick and research a post modern text produced the past five years. At this level you are expected to
be doing about 5 hours per week (outside of class) for each subject and this is what I expect you to
do for this project. You have this lesson and your unsupervised lesson next week to help. By the end
of that lesson you will need to have completed the research, created a PowerPoint presentation and
handed it in via Student Drop after the holidays…...
You will need to:
Watch your chosen text
Find out about the ‘how and why’ of your text (Production details)
Explore the critical reception of the text.
You will also need to apply all the theories and ideas we have looked at so far to the text.
You can highlight how it fits with these ideas and how it does not.
You will need to include some detailed textual analysis of your text – specific scenes need to
be analysed, possibly with YouTube clip or screen grabs.
Finally make a judgement about how post modern the text is and explain why
