3. Where is it set? In the fictional village of Emmerdale, West Yorkshire.
5. Music. The opening credits have a soundtrack which is loud, orchestral and uses many combined instruments to create the piece. This could represent unity and togetherness in the tight-knit community of Emmerdale Farm, also the solo instruments playing over the top could represent the many storylines that go in in the soap.
6. Dialogue. Most characters have a strong Yorkshire accent which acts as a strong indication of their origin and suggests that the characters are all similar people with close relationships.
8. Generally, nobody wears particularly glamorous clothes, especially the men. This is due to the practicality and adds to the suggestion that it is a relaxed and united community. E.g. They wear farmers caps, have beards.
9. The setting is in the countryside where there are a lot of fields and old style farm houses, conventional of the Yorkshire location. Family Trades and businesses- emphasising their bond as a community.
11. No character has a significantly larger screen time than another, which suggests equality. Generally straight cuts are used (no creative or out of the ordinary transitions- realism) Could represent the simplicity of their lives.
