HISTORY OF PEPSI
• IN 1893, PEPSI was first introduced as “BRAD’S DRINK”, in Newbern,
North Carolina, United States.
• It was later labeled as Pepsi Cola.
• In 1903, Bradham moved the bottling of Pepsi – Cola from his drug store to
a rented Warehouse. That year, Bradham sold, 7,968 gallons of syrup. The
next year, PEPSI was sold in six – ounce bottles and sales increased to
19,848 galllons.
• In 1926, PEPSI received its first logo redesign since the original design of
1906.
• In 1929, the logo was changed again.
• In 1931, at the depth of the Great Depression, the PEPSI Cola Company
entered bankruptcy.
• It is the 2nd largest manufacturer of soft drinks in the world.
• PEPSI has 18 different product lines that offers high quality products.
CRYSTAL PEPSI
• Crystal Pepsi was introduced to the market from April
1992 to 1993 in United States & Canada.
• New colorless cola was 100% naturally flavored with
no preservations and no caffeine.
• Lighter taste than the original Pepsi.
PEPSI A.M
• PEPSI A.M was introduced to the market of 1989.
• Contains more caffeine than a regular Pepsi.
• Morning soft drink (Break fast Cola Drink)
• Discontinued in 1990.
FAILURE REASONS OF
CRYSTAL PEPSI
• Marketing fad
• Offensive drink ( sugar and water with little bit of
flavoring)
• Competition with Coca Cola to grab the market.
• Failed to product attributes
• Targeted old consumer (age 21 to 25)
