Why 5 Day Diets Don't Work For Long Term Weight Loss
1. Why do a 5 day diet? Certainly to lose weight quickly for
one reason. You might need to fit in a dress for that hot
date or special outing, and you've got only 120 hours to
perform a miracle to make it happen! Many people may
feel they just want to try a "short term fast" as a test run
before making a serious commitment to losing unwanted
pounds that have been hanging around for years.
2. Consider the success rate of diets. While out and about I
have done my own random survey with people I know and
run into, asking the question: "What happens to people
after they get off a weight loss program or the latest
celebrity fad diet?...Surprisingly 100% of those folks
responded... "They gain all those pounds back...and
more!" Research tells us 95% gain it all back and more.
Thus it still remains a mystery, why those same people will
invariably get sucked into the latest and greatest fad diet
again and again. I myself realized a profound reality. If you
keep doing what you're doing, you'll keep getting what
your getting! That roller coaster routine plays like a broken
record. Sound familiar? You must plan and take the time
to make "change" happen. Eating low glycemic foods is a
proven success strategy to accomplish such change!
3. Lifestyle Change is the Key Lifestyle changes, not diets,
represent the key to losing weight, more importantly,
body fat. Changing old habits, such as eating the wrong
foods, over eating, eating to late, emotional eating, etc,
can be overcome through knowledge, diligence, and
patience. It is important to embrace a lifestyle which
encompasses good nutrition. Another very critical factor is
to target low glycemic foods, practice frequent exercise,
and to incorporate balance in the important aspects of
your life.
5. * Food intake that emphasizes fruits, vegetables and
whole grains, low-fat milk and milk products; includes lean
meats, beans, eggs and nuts; and is low in saturated fats,
trans fats, cholesterol, salt and added sugars.
6. * Portion control. A divided plate with the larger section
for vegetables and smaller sections for a lean protein and
whole-grain pasta or rice.
7. * Drink lots of water, instead of sugary drinks such as
juices and sodas.
8. * Exercising daily such as brisk walking, is an outstanding
cardiovascular, low impact benefit!
10. Does a 5 Day Diet work? Research has definitely proven
although people may lose weight in the short term, dieters
overwhelmingly go back to their old habits within a very
short period of time. The key is gradual change, over time.
My personal experience is all about a defined, ongoing
process. It simply came down to a decision, a decision to
be pro-active, to make a change with action backing up
that decision. You and only YOU can take control of your
health, your life, and how it will effect your loves ones.
12. The good news is that there are healthy, science based
options for you to consider that are supported by solid
documented research to back them up. This program can
change not only your life, but have a major affect on your
loved ones too!
