October is the unofficial start of
the holiday season for most of us
and that’s great for commissary
customers who want to see store
promotions, giveaways and more
discounts beyond their usual 30
percent or more savings.
“In October we also recognize
Breast Cancer Awareness
Month,” said Randy Chandler,
DeCA sales director. “Several of
our industry partners are offering
special in-store event that will be
easily recognizable: They’ll be
wrapped in pink ribbons!”
So whether it’s Oktoberfest,
Halloween, or gearing up for
Thanksgiving, your commissary
has great promotions for extra
savings and value whenever you
shop.

Visit commissaries.com for store hours
October started with 175
commissaries preparing for
closure because of the
government shutdown.
Commissaries resumed normal
operations the following week.
This is a reminder that
commissary customers can visit

Kay’s Kitchen
Fall is a great time to check out the apples in your commissary’s
produce section, and with a little effort you can turn them into
tasty treats – caramel apples. Here’s what Kay’s Kitchen says
about them: “These treats are a snap to make. The ingredients are
relatively inexpensive, and the bag of caramels may come
complete with wooden pop sticks – all you add is apples and
water. Check out the recipe.

Store Director’s Scoop
Your commissary is
“Halloween headquarters” for
candy, party food and pumpkins.
We are so very pleased to be
able to reopen for our world’s
best customers and trust you are
just as excited to have YOUR
COMMISSARY back. We are
back to regular operating hours.
In November we will close early
at 5 PM on the 11th in
observance of Veteran’s Day.
Also we will be closed all day on
Thanksgiving Day.
We would also like to
apologize for the cancellation of
the NASCAR simulator that was
to be here on 6 October, but with
the store being closed, it was
best to reschedule. We hope the
rescheduled event will fit your
schedule as we will tie in some
special buys for the event. Keep
watching your commissary
website, local Ft Riley
information for the exact time
and date.
In coordination with the
B.O.S.S., your commissary is
hosting the 2nd Annual Trunk or
Treat event in our parking lot.
Grab your young ones and have
them safely walk the trunks of
many of our finest single soldiers
who are decorating their truck or
cars for spooky design and
handing out candy. Please drive
carefully during this event
scheduled for 31 October 2013
beginning at 5:30 PM. Your
Exchange will also be having
trick-or-treating in their mall
area.
For your convenience, there is a
family restroom located near the
North entrance of the
commissary close to the regular
restrooms.
