3. INTRODUCTION
Internationalism is the feeling that the individual is not only a member of his own country
,but also a citizen of the world .Internationalism inspires the people of the world to live
together in peace with one another as good neighbors ,to take effective measures for
bridging gap ; created by issues and to develop friendly relations among nation .
International understanding is an ability to critically observe to conduct of people
everywhere and this make valid judgment leading to healthy interaction .To do this one
must be done to detach oneself from one own piratical cultural and national prejudice
and to view people of all nationalities ,culture and races as equally important.
International co- operation is needed for the developing and
underdeveloped countries for their economic programs .All over the world ,the common
man has gained a very significant place in deterring the fact of humanity as a whole
.The rapidity of modern communication and transportation have erased the margin of
distance and time
According to observer Goldsmith international understanding is a feeling that the
individual is not only a member of his steff but a member of the world: Territorial
compactness, civilization and culture, feeling of the sacredness of the motherland,
crating common values, strengthening secularism
And impact of science and Technology are the unifying forces for national integration.
Unless there is national integration the international understanding wouldn’t happens.
CONTENT
International understanding can be considered as the macro social peace education .If
looks at peace at the global level armed conflict relation among people: Global
awareness provides basic tools to critically evaluate global relations and dynamics.
International understanding focusing most heavily on positive peace and armed conflict
and analyzing Refugees’ displaced by war and role of the media .The real and
significance of international understanding also indicates or highlights about the
importance of the international legal system including international public law
,international human rights law and relations .
4. The following two importance aspects are necessary for the
creation of international understanding among the people of different nation.
1) Respect to ours culture
Understanding of the various cultures and countries with their condition
and problem is essential for international problems and issues can be situated in
right perspective. National arrogance and traditional bias or prejudice against
any country or countries against spirit of internationalism Dr.S. Radhakrishnan
has therefore remarked “If human race to survive we have to subordinate
national pride to international

2) Love to humanity
To love others is an innate good nature of the human beings “live and let others to live
is a fundamental principle of peace full Co-existence which is also to basic foundation
of international understanding .Nobody and No nation should think itself superior to
others. No discrimination against anybody or any nation or the basis of caste, creed and
colors etc should be developed in the people .Adequate knowledge and understanding
of the cultures of different countries should think itself superior to others. No
discrimination against anybody or any nation on the basis of caste ,creed and colors etc
understanding of the cultures of different countries should be given to everybody critical
thinking ,and clear outlook towards different issues of the world basic need for effective
international understanding implies the promotion of democratic citizenship etc. The
education aims at promotion of the world. Peace promotion of independent and critical
thinking, developing the student faith.
India has the world second largest population of 1-24 billion
in2011and the world seventh largest land mass .the Indian national gross domestic
product of USD, India was the tenth largest economy in the world in 2011.
As a mutual independence has been developing year after year today’s international
community .International understanding plays a prominent role in cultural exchange.
There is need to find out solution for these problems. Education is the best mean to
solve various issues of the society. The sense of international will bring the feeling that
5. the individual is not only a member of his own country, but also the citizen of the world.
And it inspires the people of the world to live together in peace with one another as
good neighbors, to take effective measures for bringing the gap created by issues and
to develop friendly relations among nations. We are fresh with the memory of the
consequences of the 1st and 2nd world wars. Now we will live in a nuclear age. If we
permit another war to happen, it will prevent through international understanding alone.
The preamble of the UNESCO says “since wars begin in the minds of men it is the
minds of men that defenses of peace must be constructed”. International understanding
can be develop through the right type of education.
Understanding international law
In our increasingly globalized world, our youth are become more and more citizens of
the world. As such they need a solid understanding of social justice, human rights,
global democracy and their role in the creation of just societies. International law is the
law governing relations between states without it there could be choose. International
law sets up a frame work based on states as the principal actors in the international
legal system, and it defines their legal responsibilities in their conduct with each other
and, within state boundaries, with their treatment of individuals. Its domain
encompasses human rights, disagreement, international crime, refugees, migration
problems of nationality, the treatment of prisoners the use of force, and the conduct of
war among others. It also regulates global commons, such as the environment,
sustainable development and global communications.
International law does work at time invisibly and successfully. World trade and global
economy depends on it as it regulates the activities required to conduct business across
borders such as financial transactions and transportation of goods. To become party to
a treaty, a state must express, through a concrete act its willingness to undertake the
legal rights and obligations.
Class room activities enhance international understanding
Considerable furtherance of international understanding can be achieved through the
various procedures which have been enumerated must also be achieved, however
through programs of regular classroom study and discussion social studies classes in
the junior high school study old world beginnings, particularly from the stand point of
6. distinguishing characteristics of different group of peoples and their cultures. In world
history at senior level study is made of the main factors with regard to rise and progress
of national states and with that rise the accompanying problem of wars and international
misunderstandings. Through there are many good standard world history materials a
committee of the teachers of the Los Angles country schools with assistance with the
respective of the central office curriculum staff prepared a series? In many schools
international relations are given special emphasis in this time. The students help to
understand the interdependence of the world, social, economic and political affairs.
Develop awareness of the common humanity which underlies all people of the earth,
and of the basic needs common to all. The social studies curricula reflect several broad
themes related to citizenship education including.
The World as global village
All societies interact with others. This fact necessitate the defining of the values of
particular one’s own culture as well as one’s self and the recognition and respect of
those others. In addition the need to understand the individual’s responsibilities as
citizen of the world is emphasized by ease and speed of global communications.
Further rapid social change requires a commitment by each individual to engage in the
preservation of social harmony of local and global level.
Exercising democracy
Schools regularly involve students in democratic process in their interaction with their
peers. Social science provides students with an understanding of democracy in all
countries. The idea of internationalism is not new to India. The old traditions and
glorious culture of our country have always been cosmopolitan and have sought
universal friendship and brotherhood based or mutual love, sympathy and
understanding.
The Upanishads taught that God lives as soul in the bodies of all human beings
irrespective of differences of race, nation, area or sex. Values like mutual toleration,
liberal outlook, human sympathy and compassion are the lifeblood of the Indian
heritage. The international understanding aims in always have been for the betterment
of humanity. Modern educational philosophers in India have strengthened the nation of
7. internationalism. Sri.Aurobind, was aristocratic internationalist. Shantinikethan and
Viswabharathi, the creations of Rabindranath Tagore, presented a concrete
manifestation of international understanding. Dr.S.Radhakrishnan said that education
must aim at making every man and woman a citizen of the world.
The international understanding helps to know about
I. Know and understand how people in other lands live
II. Recognize humanity which underlies all differences in culture
III. Work for a fair and just world order with security freedom and fair play for all
people.
IV. Maintain interest in world affairs.
V. Recognize and helps to solve world problems according to practice of
democracy.
VI. Appreciate the contributions of all nations to the ideal of the world citizenship and
a common human culture.
VII. Love of one’s own country with a broad social consciousness towards problem all
over the world.
VIII. Understand the interdependence of people and countries
IX. Respect the dignity and worth of all people by giving every one quality of rights
and opportunity.
X. Consider the world as one unit.
XI. Realize the truth alone triumphs and levels to human progress and prosperity.
XII. Believe in common values and goals of the world or community.
XIII. Familiarize with the international welfare programs.
8. CONCLUSION
To loves one’s country is a desirable disposition. But to hate other countries is not only
the desirable but also suicidal. Wide patriotism will lead to sense of citizenship effective
decisions about some matters. Conflict in any part of the world has a direct bearing on
the life of every man in the street, unlike during the past when a man living in a remote
place did not have anything to do with the wars fought between kings. It other conditions
are not to culminate in a universal catastrophe the only way to develop international
understanding leading to co-existence and co-operation.
Moreover international co-operation is needed for the developing and underdeveloped
countries for their economic programs. The economy of ‘affluence’ in a country is
untenable when we final another country struggling hard at subsistence level. Moral and
humanitarian justice requires that we should as pair to maintain peace and prosperity
for all men in the world irrespective of nationality creed and race.
