Notas do Editor
-After WWI, the city of Berlin, Germany was separated into four sections so the allies all had a piece of the land. The west side had the US Sector, the British Sector, and the French Sector. The East side was the Soviet Sector.
-In response to the FDG, the USSR launched a land blockade of West Berlin so the West would abandon the city. However, a massive airlift by Britain and the US kept West Berlin supplied with food and fuel
-The Soviet Sector feared too many skilled workmen were moving to parts of West Germany, so the commies made transportation between East and West increasingly difficult by using barbed wire.
-However millions in the East escaped to the West-2.6 million
The Western side was colorful, while the Eastern side was white or grey.
-There were a few checkpoints in the wall where people could cross between the East and West; however, only foreign tourists, diplomats, and military personnel could cross.
-The video depics an attempt to flee East Berlin, before a guard kills him
