2. What is RPI Planner?
• Course/schedule planning tool, similar in function
to RPI Scheduler
• RPI Planner helps students generally plan out an
entire plan of study during enrollment at RPI
o Scheduler which handles only a single semester
• Leverages requirements from the CAPP report
• Developed by previous RCOS students, primarily
Eric Allen
3. What does RPI Planner do right now?
• Provides a simple interface for constructing a plan
of study
• Easy drag and drop control to manipulate courses
• Handles course database and course descriptions
• Saving and loading preset and user-made plans
• Handles the validation of the plan of study
5. Planned Additions
• Flexibility is key
o Multiple degree program
o Number of courses/credits per semester
o Number of semesters in the plan
• More diversity
o Current degrees to select from are very limited
o Course database is not complete
7. Potential Additions if Time Allows
• Automated completion
o Given a number of parameters, RPI Planner
would create a plan fulfilling those requirements
in the shortest amount of time
• Fetching degree requirements and courses directly
from RPI
8. Brief Schedule
• June: Study RPI Planner design and code, add functionality
for multiple degree programs
• July: Add flexibility functionality for courses/credits per
semester and number of semesters in plan, additional
courses and degree programs
• August: Add additional features as time allows
