Home Time Management Step 2: Pinpoint Specific Changes to Make
Step 2 in your journey to real and lasting change in your home time management involves identifying the changes you want and need to make.
Let's look at what changes in these areas may look like.
Creating Meals from Weekly Meal Plans
A change in this area would mean going from suffering through mealtime madness to being well prepared. No more searching through the pantry for a quick boxed meal you can throw together in 15 minutes. No more walking through the grocery store 30 minutes before you know your family is going to be declaring that they're dying of hunger.
Having Your Children Doing Chores and Their Own Laundry
Changes this area would be no more kids lying around the house playing their games or watching TV before they've completed certain tasks.
Cleaning the House Better and in the Fastest Way Possible
Changes to make in this area would be to have a clean house that you're proud of. You won't feel like ignoring the knock at the door anymore. No more excuses when your friend wants to come over. Your house will be cleaned on a regular basis so it doesn't get that bad. You'll learn speed cleaning techniques so that you're done in less time than it used to take you to think up excuses for why you couldn't do it.
Learning to Cook Smarter
Changes to make in this area would mean that you are constantly thinking and planning ahead so that you do stuff like make extra spaghetti sauce and freeze some for a super-quick meal that only requires boiling the pasta. Or, bake an extra lasagna for an automatic night off. When you're browning hamburger brown an extra pound for a casserole in the next couple of weeks.

look at how your life is right now and then figure
out how you want it to be different.
That's all we're doing in this step.

4. Do you serve meals that were hastily thrown together at the last
minute?
Are you sick of your kids sitting around playing video games while
you clean up their mess? Do your kids have trouble finding clean
clothes each morning?
Are you depressed when you come home from work because the
house is such a mess?
Would you give up your right arm for a night off from cooking?

This will save time not only on cooking but on

And, best of all, you'll be proud of what you
serve to your family.

8. Having Your Children Doing Chores
and Their Own Laundry
Changes to make in this area would be no more kids lying around the house playing
their games or watching TV before they've completed certain tasks.
But the biggest… and best… change is that much of what you've been doing all these
years will fall on their shoulders.
It's alright… they're going to have to do that stuff as adults anyway.
You don't want them living on their own and waiting until Mom comes over to clean
their toilet, do you?
(c) Home Time Management 2013 | Mary Segers http://marysegers.com
9. Also… and this drives me Bonkers… kids should be
doing their own laundry from a pretty young age.
So ease them into it and the change that would happen
here is that they would pretty soon be able to take over
the responsible for washing, drying, folding, and
putting away their own clothes.
